Kennywood Park on Mother’s Day | The Adventuring Abbeys Vlog

Summer has officially returned to Pittsburgh, PA because Sunday was our first visit back to Kennywood of the 2022 season!
(Okay, to be technical, Derrick & Braelynn did go to Kennywood for passholder-preview-day a few weeks ago, but Leander & I were unable to go because he was sick. It was a cold, rainy, gross day anyway – whereas Sunday was INCREDIBLE – the perfect amusement park day! So, since that was our first day at the park all together as a family, I’m claiming it our “first visit”.)

Not only was Sunday an absolute beautiful day,
It was also Mother’s Day (what better place to celebrate?),
AND this past weekend was Thomas The Tank Engine’s birthday celebration!

At 2pm, Kennywood gave all of the kids in Thomas Town a coloring prize pack and then did a big drawing to give away a few big Track Master sets. Believe it or not, Leander WON! He was so thrilled and wanted to carry his new Thomas set around the entire park (which was a challenge because the box was as big as him!)

We’ve never visited an amusement park on Mother’s Day and we’d heard that parks are typically slow on that particular holiday. Well, that was definitely not the case with Kennywood this weekend! While the park wasn’t “slammed” (and we’ve definitely been there on much busier days), the park was definitely busier than we anticipated! It was such a beautiful day though, so who could refuse?

Needless to say, we had the BEST first visit of the year back to Kennywood Park! As roller coaster enthusiasts, Kennywood is our home park, so once the park opens up during the week, we visit at least once a week. We love this park and were thrilled to see all of the updates and changes that were made over the off-season. The new paint, the new fixtures, the added shade, the new signage – it all looks absolutely incredible! It’s all so fresh & clean!

If you haven’t been to Kennywood recently, 2022 would be an excellent year to make a return visit! (And if you happen to see us in the park, don’t be shy! Say hello!)
