We’re always sad to see the regular roller coaster season wind down. We spend so much of time in the summer months visiting amusement parks and traveling that we never seem to know what to do with ourselves once the “off-season” arrives.
Thankfully, our home park, Kennywood (located just outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) has an incredible Christmas event that only gets bigger and better every year, and this year is no exception!
Over the last few years, we have visited several different parks’ Christmas events, and every year, we come back to Holiday Lights at Kennywood Park and declare it THE BEST (we might be biased, but it truly is an exceptional event!)
This year, the park opened with more than THREE million lights (I remember the years when they advertised “over one million” and we’re up to three million now!) The park expanded their Holiday Lights events to include more food options, new shows, more rides (including adding another roller coaster to the lineup: Racer!), more attractions, and even opened part of Lost Kennywood to be included in the event this year!
The park looks better than EVER – you can really tell that the park management has a heart for this event and really pours everything they have into making it bigger and better every year.
The crown jewel of the 2024 Kennywood Holiday Lights event though is the brand new Rudolph and Friends exhibit! The park truly knocked our socks off with the incredible set they built to house these characters and their meet-and-greet space. We loved it so much, we went through it twice!
If you live in the Pittsburgh area – Holiday Lights at Kennywood Park is a MUST during the holiday season. Bundle everyone up and go enjoy the incredible festivities, delicious food, and holiday atmosphere you can only find at Kennywood.
If you want to go back and see some videos and photos photos from our previous years enjoying Holiday Lights, you can hop back to 2023 here, 2022 here, 2021 here, 2018 here, and 2017 here – even though we went to Holiday Lights in 2019, I didn’t write a blog post about it, and thanks to the pandemic, Kennywood did not host Holiday Lights in 2020.
And because – what’s a blog post without photos – here are just a few (these are a mix of iPhone snaps & photos taken with my “big” camera).
