Whew! It’s been a little while since I posted any house updates!! Honestly, we really didn’t do too much over the summer – our summer was full of traveling, traveling, and more traveling (at least, that’s what it felt like!)
With buying a house that’s on the “fixer-upper” side, it seems like we have a never ending list of things to do. So many projects, so little time & money. I truly dislike talking about money, but it sure would be wonderful to have an endless supply when it comes to all of the projects on our to-do house list! We did check a few things off that last last week though when Derrick’s parents came down for a few days to help us replace some windows!
The windows in our house are ancient. I am not exaggerating when I say, one of the windows in our bedroom never seemed to be fully closed. No matter how tightly it was closed & locked, there was still a breeze that seemed to creep in. So, you can imagine how awesome that was last winter – when all of our precious heat was escaping right out of our windows and we were helpless to stop it. Well, no more! Now, there are only 2 windows left on our 2nd floor that need replaced (and they are big, custom-order windows, thus why we didn’t put them in this round)
Already we’ve noticed a difference with our new windows! Not only are they beautiful & secure & sealed, but they are quiet! It’s crazy how much quieter things are with our new windows!
Out with the old..
And in with the new!
Beautifully stained new trim! It’s such a glorious color (my iPhone camera doesn’t really do it justice)
So, funny story: when we remodeled our 2nd floor before moving in last fall, we accidentally primed the inside of our bedroom doors. We thought it would be fine & we could just paint them white like all of the trim, but it didn’t work. The paint didn’t stick very well at all, and we were left with streaky, running, white doors. So, since we were ripping out the windows, we decided to also pull the doors out & strip the white paint back off.

Trim!
Closet doors!! The first time in our marriage that we’ve had doors on our closet! WOOHOO!
New windows & trim!
And the results of the white paint stripped off the doors!
I still can’t believe our closet doors – they’re so lovely!
Next on our to-do list: the tree in our backyard is coming down & we’re getting a new furnace! Not super glamorous things, but after those are both checked off, we can move on to a few fun projects: like insulating our 3rd floor & making it livable space! Stay tuned!
I love this! Mark and I bought a fixer upper too, built in 1860!! So we’ve done sooooooo many house projects! We are kind of a standstill now, but I love seeing what other people are doing with their homes!
[…] bedrooms to have curtains again! They’ve been down since last November (yep, over a year) since our new windows went in, but he wasn’t able to finish trimming them out. Braelynn has had the comforter from our guest […]
