October is always a BIG month in our house – fall is in full swing (so we do all the traditional “fall” things like playing in the leaves and carving pumpkins), my birthday falls right in the middle, and then we end with Halloween and Trick or Treating!
(On top of that, as a photographer, October is always the busiest month of the year for weddings, engagement sessions, and portraits!)
Speaking of my birthday – we had my entire family over for a little party and Derrick (with the help of Luis – my newest, quietest, most chill & reserved brother-in-law) pulled off the surprise to end all surprises. (And started a new birthday tradition? I’m not sure – we’ll have to see what happens at the next birthday!) Trust me when I say, if you don’t watch any of this film, skip ahead to (6:43) and watch THIS MOMENT! It is EPIC!
I can hardly believe that October is already over – and now it’s onto the holiday season! I’m SO excited!
Moments of note this month:
(0:38) Leander said “Goodbye” to his crib and has graduated to a big boy bed!
(1:47) What happens when you wake up earlier than you’re supposed to? You get to exercise with Mom
(2:24) We did so many cool science experiments this month for school!
(3:39) Our last weekend at Deep Creek Lake
(5:03) Autumn Glory Parade and Festivities in Oakland, MD (our church down there does the puppet production – it’s always AMAZING)
(5:59) Celebrating my birthday!
(6:43) The big BANG (otherwise known as the best moment of the entire night)
(8:08) Visiting Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh, PA
(8:40) More fun science experiments
(9:08) Trick or Treating in Downtown Irwin
(9:45) Carving our pumpkins
(10:23) Trick or Treating on Halloween!
Just in case you’ve missed what I’m doing – I decided that I wanted to create a curated “home video” for our family every month (remember those old “home movies” our families used to create? with the giant video recorders that an entire VHS tape fit in?) Those videos were fantastic, but if you’ve ever sat down to watch one (does anyone even own a VHS player anymore?) you very quickly realize that you do a lot of “fast-forwarding”.
So, my goal, is to take all the little videos I take of our family over the course of a month & create a short (my goal is to be around 10 minutes) video of my favorite snippets. I am SO excited to finally have a dedicated place to chronicle my family videos & keep them safe & accessible.
Enjoy a little peek into what our October looked like!
