As if I needed a reminder, the month of July – the pinnacle of summer – has come and gone.
And it flew by faster than ever.
While we had a super fun-filled month, we also spent a good chunk of our July being sick. From colds to stomach bugs to pink eye – we ran the whole gamut in the month of July. Braelynn would spend a few days sick, start to get better, and then Leander would spend a few days sick. They passed everything back and forth all month and it literally felt like it was never going to end.
But thankfully – it has! And fingers crossed – we are moving on and in the clear!
Life moves too fast & the best way I know to preserve it is to snatch these fleeting moments before they fly away & bottle them up so they are never lost.
Moments of note this month:
(0:05) We spent the beginning of 4th of July weekend at Kennywood Park! (of course we did!)
(0:27) 4th of July led right into us spending a week at Deep Creek Lake with my Mom, sisters, and nieces! Our church held their family-integrated VBS that week and the kids had a BLAST every single night! It truly was the most amazing week with VBS every night and every day spent with the cousins – Braelynn and Leander truly became bestest friends with their cousins Alethea and Layla during that week together.
(2:30) Braelynn got creamed during on the of the games at VBS (she’s in the bright pink skirt)
(2:38) But before I could even make it into the fence to go help her, she popped back up and was back to playing the game! She simply walked away with a small bruise.
(5:15) Celebrating my brother (whom we affectionately call “Uncle Cheese”)’s birthday
(5:38) Leander’s “please” face (thanks Bluey)
(6:10) A push-up competition!
(6:59) We spent a rainy day at Kennywood with the cousins (the kids didn’t care about the rain and it cleared up by mid-afternoon!)
(8:48) Braelynn makes a video.
Just in case you’ve missed what I’m doing – I decided that I wanted to create a curated “home video” for our family every month (remember those old “home movies” our families used to create? with the giant video recorders that an entire VHS tape fit in?) Those videos were fantastic, but if you’ve ever sat down to watch one (does anyone even own a VHS player anymore?) you very quickly realize that you do a lot of “fast-forwarding”.
So, my goal, is to take all the little videos I take of our family over the course of a month & create a short (my goal is to be around 10 minutes) video of my favorite snippets. I am SO excited to finally have a dedicated place to chronicle my family videos & keep them safe & accessible.
Enjoy a little peek into what our July looked like!
