The month of December always flies by at a breakneck pace.
From Leander’s birthday at the beginning, to Christmas and New Years at the end – plus all of the Christmas “activities” in the middle – our Decembers are always packed to the brim!
On top of all the usual December “stuff” – we also had some MAJOR work done on our house in December! We got a whole new (blue, metal) roof and brand new siding!! In entirety, it was about a 2 1/2 week project – and we are THRILLED beyond words with how it turned out!
Otherwise, we opened daily advent calendars, baked cookies, went to Kennywood one last time, wrapped presents, watched TONS of Christmas movies, built gingerbread houses, attended Christmas parties, and saw Santa!
Leander’s birthday party is not included in this video – it’s separate and you can watch it here! https://youtu.be/15yKiHii8Kk
Moments of note this month:
(0:01) The kids had 3 daily “advent calendars” – one that Nana & Papa made them, a castle that Mommy filled with treats, and our nightly Christmas books
(0:43) The kids are SUPER obsessed with a “new” restaurant we discovered that has toy machines! They work hard to save up some quarters so they can get prizes out every time we go
(0:59) Leander’s ACTUAL birthday!
(2:54) A Christmas fun day at Grandma & Grandpa’s! We decorated gingerbread houses, did a chocolate caramel taste test, played BINGO, and ate lots of delicious food
(4:11) Our house when it was about half-way done
(4:35) Our Greensburg PA Rising Tide Society Christmas Party
(5:38) Santa on a firetruck!
(6:26) Baking Christmas cookies
(7:36) Revealing our house’s finished renovation to the kids (spoiler alert: it didn’t go as I thought it would!)
(8:41) Christmas Eve at Meme & Grandpa’s
(10:00) Christmas Eve sibling gift exchange
(11:40) Christmas morning (bright & early – before 6am!)
(13:24) We did a Christmas “Progressive Dinner” with my family
(16:33) Playing in the snow and building a snowman
(16:50) Last visit to Kennywood Park for 2022
(17:34) Christmas at Nana & Papa’s
Just in case you’ve missed what I’m doing – I decided that I wanted to create a curated “home video” for our family every month (remember those old “home movies” our families used to create? with the giant video recorders that an entire VHS tape fit in?) Those videos were fantastic, but if you’ve ever sat down to watch one (does anyone even own a VHS player anymore?) you very quickly realize that you do a lot of “fast-forwarding”.
So, my goal, is to take all the little videos I take of our family over the course of a month & create a short (my goal is to be around 10 minutes) video of my favorite snippets. I am SO excited to finally have a dedicated place to chronicle my family videos & keep them safe & accessible.
Enjoy a little peek into what our December looked like!
