Hollywood Studios was our final Walt Disney World park during our big Florida trip this year (it wasn’t our final park, but our final DISNEY park).
It was bittersweet.
We were really smart to save Hollywood for last, because by then, we had visited two other Disney parks & had gotten pretty good at working the Genie+ system and the Disney app. Hollywood was definitely our most challenging Disney day, simply because the lines got incredibly long, incredibly fast, and most of the Lightning Lanes “sold out” before the park even opened (it was a bit insane).
That’s not to say we had a bad day – we had a WONDERFUL day! It just took a bit more strategy than we have EVER had to use at a theme park (there truly is no room for error when it came to booking Lightning Lanes at Hollywood Studios!)
Thankfully – Derrick was the Genie+ KING and he worked the system like a pro. (He put out a whole video on our experience – go watch it HERE)
Unfortunately, Rock’N’Roller Coaster never opened during our day at Hollywood and the Little Mermaid Show was also closed. We definitely felt those two major attractions being closed as they are two additional large locations that would help spread guests throughout the park. The lines for the other major attractions (Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash, and Tower of Terror) hit 135+ minute long waits after about an hour of the park being opened and only stayed that long and got longer.
We made the extremely wise decision to rope-drop Rise of the Resistance, and we were able to score a Lightning Lane for Slinky Dog Dash. We choose to skip Tower of Terror because even though both Braelynn & Leander were tall enough to ride, we knew they would NOT like it!
Otherwise, we saw all of the shows, and thoroughly enjoyed the INCREDIBLE atmospheres of both Star Wars land and Toy Story land (both completely new areas of the park since the last time we were at Hollywood!)
Of course, what is a post without photos? Here are a few of the highlights of our day both from my iPhone 12 Pro and “big” camera (I have a Canon R6).
Stay tuned – we went to Busch Gardens Tampa next!
