It all started with a car.
Big sister was in need of a new vehicle & she asked her little sister to go with her. We all know – car dealerships and car salesmen have the reputation of being shady & sleezy especially when it comes to a young woman being the one purchasing the car. They went to a local dealership & got hooked up with a salesman who began showing them different cars. Big sister was a little smitten with the salesman – she suddenly became very chatty & flirty & giggly – while little sister attempted to be the serious one – asking questions & looking out that her sister didn’t get the bad end of a deal.
They found a car that they kind of liked, but not being 100% sure that it was the right fit, asked if they could take it home for their Dad to look over. They made an arrangement with the salesman, to run it home & have it back by a certain time [who does that by the way?] to allow their Dad to check the car out. As they were leaving, the salesman asked if the little sister would be coming back when the big sister brought the car back & she responded that there was no reason for her to – she wasn’t the one buying the car.
Dad checked out the car & gave his stamp of approval – so he and his daughter rode the car back to sign the paperwork. The salesman – yes, you guessed it – who turns out to be Greg – started asking questions about the little sister. This instantly perked up big sister’s ears. Suddenly, the chatty/flirty/giggly act was dropped & she became the serious one – asking questions and looking out for her sister. She left the dealership that evening with a new car & the handsome salesman’s phone number.
They were set up on a “blind” date [which technically wasn’t “blind” since they had already met] which Heather reluctantly went to. To her surprise – Greg didn’t show up that evening. He called and apologized, explaining that he had gotten stuck at work and he begged her to go out on a second-first date with him. Again, she reluctantly agreed & this time he showed up.
The second-first date was a smashing success. They instantly hit it off and became very close friends – which quickly turned into a dating relationship.
The best part of the story though? After about a year & a half of dating, she found out – Greg wasn’t actually stuck at work that first date night. No. The real reason he didn’t show was because the new Madden game had just come out & he stayed at home to play video games. By that point though, Heather was completely smitten with Greg & now it’s something she laughs about.
We got together last fall and braved the freezing cold afternoon to take some engagement photos! They are pure troopers as it truly was freezing & sleeting through part of our time together! Nothing could dim the incredible love they have for each other though!
And, did I mention, I love when a couple brings their dog along? Because I totally do! Don’t get me wrong – engaged couples always have that loving glow about them – but when you add their dog into the mix – smiles are so much brighter & things just seem more natural and relaxed. I’m so glad they brought Eli along!
