I don’t know about you, but I feel like the holidays sneak up on me faster every year.
Don’t get me wrong: I’m ready! I’m excited! Let’s go!
But also, does it have to go so fast?
I know from past experience that the next few weeks (between Thanksgiving and Christmas) fly by at a pace previously unknown to man, and it makes me anxious.
Anxious because I don’t want it to fly by so fast.
And I want to really settle down and enjoy the moments (instead of feeling like I run around every single day with my hair on fire).
I am so thankful for everything in my life right now – my husband, my kids, my family, my house, my job, my friends (the list goes on and on). So many times, it’s so easy to look straight over the tops of all the blessings that are being poured out on my life on a daily basis and see the mess (both literally and figuratively) that I’m also surrounded by. But if anything, that’s what this season is for: a chance to purposefully and strategically slow down. Be thankful. Choose to lay aside the overwhelm and anxiety and to simply rest.
2024 was a rough year and 2025’s come with it’s own share of high highs and pretty low lows – but through it all, one thing remains constant: Jesus. He’s in control and nothing happens in my life (or in the lives of the people I love most) that catches Him by surprise. He loves me and my family and I can trust Him to take care of us (and He has). There is peace in knowing Jesus and I pray you discover that peace as we enter this holiday season.
And, because what is a post without photos? Here are a few of the family photos that my sister (and favorite photographer) Ellen took of us a few weeks ago (I’m obsessed with them!)
If you’d like to take a trip down memory lane, check out the last few year’s Thanksgiving posts where I highlight our family’s photos that Ellen has taken for us (maybe grab some tissues first – how are my babies growing so fast?!)
