I’ll be 100% honest:
Nothing seems “fitting” enough to blog tonight.
With the governor of Pennsylvania shutting down all non-life-supporting businesses as of 8pm tonight – suddenly our whole state has come to a screeching halt. Sure, restaurants are still open for take-out, gas stations & grocery stores are still open, and hospitals are overflowing – but for the rest of us? Life seems to have suddenly stopped.
I don’t even know what to say. My heart is breaking for so many of my friends who are suddenly without jobs and for my brides & grooms who are suddenly without weddings. I’m nervous for Derrick to go into work tomorrow – because even though his job technically fits into the category of one that can stay open – most of the businesses that his job services are now shut down, crippling the company he works for. Everything is just a huge, gigantic mess. And my heart is heavy.
And when my heart is heavy, I reach for my camera.
With a quarantine currently in place, we haven’t left our house all week. Braelynn keeps asking: “Mommy, aren’t we going to go anywhere today?” It’s weird being stuck at home – we aren’t big go-and-do-ers as it is, but we do usually make a trip to the grocery store, spend time at my parent’s house, visit the library, and run little errands throughout the week. We’ve spent our extra time baking cookies, watching movies, and playing outside.
Today, I took the kids out, put on their rain boots, and told them to go jump in the mud puddles. I promised that they wouldn’t get in trouble by getting dirty – and to just go have fun. It wasn’t super warm out, so we only played for about 30 minutes before we came in to get a nice warm bath – but it was enough.
Hopefully, you’re finding ways to break up your days too.
Happy first day of spring.
