TODAY is a BIG day!
Today is Braelynn’s 6th birthday! *cue all the confetti*
I just can’t even wrap my brain around the fact that she’s now 6 years old! I mean: look at this gorgeous girl! I’m just obsessed with her & her missing two-front-teeth smile.
We’ve been in “celebration mode” for the past few days: we went out to dinner (in a restaurant!) on Wednesday, we had a birthday party on Friday night, complete with her best friend (& cousin) coming down with Nana & Papa & spending the weekend here. Today is another celebration day – Braelynn has requested crepes (with strawberries & whipped cream) for breakfast, her desire is to go out to eat for lunch (we’ll see about that one), and she requested “fish & shrimp” for dinner. I guess all of our celebrating revolves around food? And later this week, we’ll host a few other girls for individual mini-celebratory play-dates with Braelynn.
I’m so proud of my big girl & all that she is learning, how she continues to grow & mature, and what a beautiful (both inside & out) young lady she is becoming. She has an imagination the size of the universe and her creativity just bursts from her fingertips. She will sit and draw/color/create all afternoon, only to move on to setting up a whole town for her little figures & animals to have adventures in.
This year, we officially started kindergarten & she is SO smart. Her favorite thing is to listen to me read – we’ve conquered so many fun books this year (including all of the Little House on the Prairie books, the Ralph S. Mouse books, and lots of other random books!) She loves to sing & dance & has recently started hosting “boogey” parties in her bedroom with her brother.
She has become a big helper around the house (and ever since we introduced her to a “chore chart” – she does much better at remembering to do the tasks assigned to her every day – she’s obsessed with crossing off the boxes!). She still loves PAW Patrol, but has added a few new “loves” to her list, like Sonic, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and Disney Jr.’s T.O.T.S. Her love of stuffed animals remains STRONG – she adores her stuffies. Her favorite thing is to snuggle (and I hope she never grows out of it).
She is the best big sister – always up for trying something silly in order to make Leander laugh. She loves to chase him around the house (which is currently Leander’s favorite game) & happily builds him forts, tents, and towers using the cushions & pillows from our couch. Their absolute favorite thing is to go outside together & run around the yard – whether it’s 90º out or 15º. Together, they dance, laugh, and adventure thru our days & make life so much more exciting.
We love her to pieces & are so thankful for the big, golden ray of sunshine she is in our lives.
Of course – what’s a mini-photoshoot without a certain little brother interrupting?
Can you tell that his birthday was just 8 weeks ago & we did similar portraits in his bedroom? He knew exactly what to do!
And then just like that – the magic ended.
And then – someone’s super silly side came out!

[…] Braelynn’s birthday was OFFICIALLY on Monday & we’ve been celebrating all week long (most of last week too!) We made Monday as special as possible with special food, special activities, and of course: special dessert. And then the rest of the week – she had a different friend over almost every day for the afternoon. It was SO much fun & I have to admit, quite delightful. Yesterday was our first “quiet” day & it definitely felt kinda lonely without the revolving door of friends coming & going! […]
