I want to introduce ya’ll to a friend of mine – her name is Jodi Quick and she’s a photographer in Delaware! While we’ve never met in person, we’ve found ourselves in the same photography circles for the last year or so & we’ve gotten to know each other – she is an incredible, visionary photographer! I thought it would be fun to do a little interview with her & show off some of her latest beautiful images! Do her a favor & leave her some love in the comments!

1. HI! Please briefly introduce yourself [who are you outside of your photography business?]:
Who am I? That’s really philosophical. 😉 I’m a city girl, or I used to be…I’m originally a New Yorker, but I’ve called Dover, Delaware home for almost a decade. I’m a romantic .. I am very ‘movie-esquely’ happily ever after married to my high school sweetheart. I’m a goofy and quirky (perpetually 29 year old) mom to two of the most hilarious and sarcastic tweens I’ve ever met. I’m a road rockstar .. if you catch me out driving in the car alone there is a good chance I’m badly belting out whatever is on the radio. I’m laid back, look for the positive things in life and surround myself a with a mixture people who make me laugh and keep me grounded.
2. What is your favorite color Skittle?
I’m not really a sweets person. So, I would have to say orange .. that’s the one that tastes like Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, right?
3. If your house was burning down & you could only grab 1 pair of shoes to save, which would you take?
This is almost as bad as asking me which of my kids I would choose to grab! It’s just not right! I would probably grab my brown boots .. and I’d so shove my black stilettos inside them 😉
4. When you were a little kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I actually wanted to be an art teacher when I was little. Along with being a photographer, I’m not to shabby at pastels and pencil.
5. Life motto – a quote or piece of advice you keep coming back to, that drives you, keeps you going?
I would have to say my life motto is “Don’t take life too seriously. You’ll never get out of it alive.” – Elbert Hubbard Which boils down to a bunch of little mini-mottos .. Life is short, don’t take it for granted. Learn from your mistakes and the speed bumps along the way. Enjoy the moments (big and small) with the people you love.
6. Tell me a little bit about your business – what do you specialize in & why?
I specialize in tweens, teens and seniors. I love having the ability to capture who they are. For tweens, they’re just starting to really discover who they are as a person. It’s ever evolving and a major (undocumented) portion of their lives that I feel is so very important. For teens, I love that although they are all assimilating into the ‘norm’ to fit in with their peers, they all have a unique little spark that makes them shine and stand out from the crowd. And for seniors, it’s all about documenting one of the biggest moments in their life as they are making the step from childhood into adulthood. The opportunity to capture the personality, spark and major life moments of all these kids for them and their families to cherish for years to come is what I absolutely love about my job.
7. What got you started down the path to photography?
My grandma. She actually bought me my very first camera when I was 4. It was a Polaroid (like – an old school wave the photo back and forth to make it develop – Polaroid). When I was 12, she bought me a Minolta SLR, which I actually used up until a few years ago when I purchased my first Canon DSLR.
8. How would you describe your style?
If I had to describe my style, I would have to go with fun, fresh, clean and classic.
9. What are you most excited about in 2014?
I actually just decided this year that I was going to put all of my focus into tweens, teens, and seniors. I am absolutely loving it! It’s not official yet, so I don’t want to release the details and jinx it, but it’s looking like Jodi Quick Photography is going to be making a rather big expansion later this year.
