Dimelza and Warren | Vow Renewal Wedding Celebration at Black Water Falls State Park in Davis, WV

If we’ve seen it once, we’ve seen it a hundred times:
Couples making the choice to elope and then promising that they’ll have a celebration with their friends and family later.

But here’s the “problem”: life.
Once you get married – life sets in. You buy a house, you get a dog, you change jobs, your car dies and you have to buy a new one, a baby is on the way (!) – life happens.
And for most people (several that I know personally), that post-wedding celebration just doesn’t happen.
As time passes and the urgency to plan such an event begins to fade, the desire to plan that celebration fades as well.

In my observation of all-things-weddings (going on 15 years now): it takes a strong and determined couple to actually move forward in planning that celebration after they’ve eloped.

And that’s the category Dimelza and Warren fall into.

They eloped in the most stunning of ways over a year ago.
But they could not let go of the idea that they wanted to gather their closest friends and family together to celebrate. (As Warren so eloquently pointed out during dinner, the magic of having “this particular group of people, all together, in this beautiful location, which will never happen again.”)

And they pulled it off!
That doesn’t mean the day was without it’s hiccups (after all, it wouldn’t be a wedding celebration without them) but overall, Saturday afternoon could not have been more beautiful: from the setting, to the beautiful blue skies, to the comfortable sunshine, to the joy radiating from every corner of Black Water Falls State Park. The celebration and delight was palpable as Dimelza and Warren renewed their vows and once again promised their love and commitment to one another.

Leading up to the big day, Dimelza stressed to me that all she and Warren desperately wanted was a laid back, beautiful celebration of their love – a space where they could enjoy their friends and family – and have FUN together. They didn’t want too many “traditional” things, but instead infused their day with personalized tokens of who they are and what their love is. And it was perfect.
