A couple doesn’t get much braver than Diana & Kevin. Visiting family over the holidays, we decided to schedule their engagement session for the day-after-Christmas. We figured: everyone will just kind of be lazing around, so why not? What we didn’t realize was the urge to sit on the couch with an extra large plate of Christmas cookies, binge watching Netflix, with your new fluffy slippers all day was extremely strong! Let’s top it off with it being cold and raining. The Christmas cookie & slippers approach is definitely sounding like the best option in my book!
Thankfully, we were able to fight through the day-after-Christmas haze & venture out into the chilly December weather [I’ll be honest, the promise of cookies & fluffy slippers definitely helped as something to look forward to!] But seriously – Diana & Kevin were a dream. I’m so thankful that they didn’t shy away from all of my crazy ideas [including walking away from my car without the umbrellas I specifically brought in case it rained .. in the rain. Yeah, the day-after-Christmas haze was definitely clouding my brain, or maybe it was all the sugar I’d consumed?]
They met in Long Island, both attending school and looking for their Masters degrees, both in Latin American History. Since Diana is from Columbia, a desire to teach Latin American History makes sense, it is her background and her culture. Kevin on the other hand, simply took a really good class at the beginning of his college career and was drawn in, intrigued, & inspired. Diana was drawn to Kevin because he understood her culture, he didn’t think it was “silly” or “exotic” like other guys did. They had so much in common that a relationship just made sense.
They are getting married next summer, combining their two homes and cultures together in one beautiful ceremony. I’m so excited and cannot wait!
