I love meeting with couples & making our time together as much about them as possible. I mean, we wouldn’t be getting together over a cup of coffee if it weren’t for “them” being “together” – am I right?
So, whenever I meet with a couple to chat about their wedding photography, I always ask questions about how they met & fell in love. And I love that no matter what, every story is completely different. There might be little pieces that sound similar to someone else’s story, but overall, couples’ stories are like snowflakes – completely unique.
Take Destiny & Jake for example: they technically met in high school. They’d pass each other in the halls & even had a math class together. However, since Jake is super shy & Destiny is more of a social butterfly, they never really said much more than a “hello” to each other as they’d pass in the hall between classes.
Jake was a year ahead of Destiny & after he graduated (and they’re passing each other in the halls came to a stop), Jake found himself missing those daily “hellos” in the high school halls. So, he sent Destiny a Facebook message saying, “Hello”. She responded back and they began chatting.
You could say the rest is “history”.
We got together this spring to celebrate their engagement with photos at Twin Lakes Park in Greensburg, PA. It was such a crazy time: winter just did not want to let go this year! In fact, it snowed less than 24 hours before their session! You’d never know it though, it was warm & we even found some flowering trees.
Jake & Destiny brought their little “baby” along for some photos too – she is just so cute! She was definitely terrified of the great outdoors at Twin Lakes though (I’m sure all of the people randomly walking by walking huge dogs didn’t help either), so she literally clung to Jake like a little koala bear!
[…] After connecting post-high school, becoming friends, and getting to know one another better than anyone else, Jake approached Destiny’s parents & asked for their permission to marry her. They turned him down. They said that they were too young & that they hadn’t known each other long enough to be making the big decision to marry. Obviously, that would be quite the blow to receive as a young guy – can you imagine? […]
