My Grandma always used to think that I would go to school to become either a nurse or a pharmacist. Whenever I ask her why, she always just shrugs her shoulders and says that she has always thought that I would be good at it!
Unlike me (sorry Grandma), Chris & Chrissy did both go to school to be pharmacists. They actually both found themselves signed up for a 6-year program in Albany, New York, and in the same class. The way that this particular school worked, was once you got yourself “locked in” to the program, you would be with the same group of students the entire way though until graduation. You can imagine the friendships & bonds that would form from this kind of close-knit circumstances!
Year 1 of the program, chapter 1 opens and they officially met each other. However, it wasn’t this magical “love-at-first-sight” moment. Chrissy was super outgoing and Chris was more on the quiet & shy side. Those two factors mixed in with the pressures of the program & challenges that pharmacy school brings meant that they didn’t actually chat very much at all that first year.
That is, until year 2 rolled around. Having found their groove as students, the pressures lifted enough for them to realize that they actually really enjoyed each other. Before they knew it, a sweet friendship had formed.
And then, year 3 arrived. Chris knew that he wanted to move their relationship from the “friendship” category to a “dating” category & one day he got up the courage to ask Chrissy out. Unfortunately, in a twist turn-of-events, she turned him down. She loved their friendship and was worried that a dating relationship would screw it all up. At least, that was the initial reason she gave when she turned him down. After thinking it over though, she realized that she’d made a huge mistake. Chris was her best friend, but suddenly she realized she might have some feelings for him beyond friendship as well.
So, realizing the error of her ways, she manipulated the circumstances to set Chris up to ask her out again. And this time, she was ready with a better answer. The rest is “up hill from there” (Chrissy’s exact words – so perfect!)
These two are such troopers, let me tell you! Since we both live outside of the area, we made a plan for their engagement session to be one weekend that we’d both be in town. We crossed our fingers for no rain, but failed to cross our fingers for warm weather & no sickness! We watched dark grey rainclouds roll all around us, but never actually got rained on! YAY!
It was freezing though – a cold breeze was blowing the entire time. And, poor Chis had a terrible head-cold! He was such a trooper though and they were absolutely wonderful, red cold noses and all. My thought is: we got the “not-so-great” factors all out of the way, so their wedding day is going to be healthy & warm & golden come the big day in October, which I absolutely cannot wait for!
