Cedar Point.
The roller coaster capital of the world.
America’s roller coast.
And the end of our 2022 roller coaster riding season.
We saved the best for last!
During Cedar Point’s last regular operating weekend of the 2022 season – we finally made it back to Sandusky, Ohio. We booked a great deal to stay the weekend at Castaway Bay – the hotel and indoor waterpark that sits on the mainland, right before you turn onto the peninsula that is home to Cedar Point. We’ve been there once before, but it’s been a few years and is newly renovated, so we wanted to check it out! Plus, we knew our kids would LOVE the indoor waterpark (and, spoiler alert: they did).
We drove in on Friday afternoon, spent the rest of the afternoon/evening in the waterpark and then were up bright and early to be at Cedar Point for early access for season passholders.
Our time in the park on Saturday ran into a few snags: half of the park ended up being closed until late in the afternoon due to a severe power outage (Maverick, Valravn, Corkscrew, and more were all effected). The crowds were heavy, so we headed out to spend the rest of our afternoon/evening relaxing in the waterpark.
Sunday was a totally different story! With rain in the morning scaring the crowds away, we were able to ride a TON of rides before lunch! It turned out to be an absolute beautiful, wonderful day.
We tried out Cedar Point’s newest restaurant (it sits back by Maverick and Steel Vengeance) called The Farmhouse Kitchen and Grill. We loved it so much that we went back the second day and ate there again. The prices were reasonable, the food EXCELLENT, the portions huge – and it wasn’t “traditional amusement park food” – so we 100% HIGHLY recommend!!
We LOVE Cedar Point (I mean, what coaster enthusiast doesn’t?) And when you pair it with staying on property – it’s just an incredible destination.
Of course, what is a post without photos? Here are a few of the highlights of our trip both from my iPhone 12 Pro and “big” camera (I have a Canon R6).
