Have you ever had your birthday party upended by a huge snowstorm?
Well, Braelynn’s 11th birthday was.
Her 11th birthday fell on a Sunday this year and she was SO EXCITED to plan her birthday party to be held on her actual birthDAY. We planned to have all of our immediate family and a few of Braelynn’s friends over for lunch and an afternoon party – we were going to have tacos and cake and ice cream – it was going to be marvelous.
Until the forecast started predicting a HUGE snowstorm that would arrive early Sunday morning, and continue for about 36 hours – right through Braelynn’s birthday.
As Sunday loomed closer and the weather predictions started hardening, we had to make a really tough call: we needed to reschedule the party – would we bump it up or push it out?
Braelynn was equal parts devastated to have to change her birthday plans so dramatically, but also very excited to be getting 14+ inches of snow on her birthday. We ultimately decided to move her birthday up to Friday night, we ended up having a small party for her friends the following week – and yes, we thoroughly enjoyed being snow in for 48 hours with over a foot of snow on the ground!
Braelynn LOVES How To Train Your Dragon, so this theme was a no-brainer. Especially after visiting Epic Universe last spring – she loves Toothless and the Light Fury more than ever, so making a Dragon birthday come true for our girl was so much fun.

We bought this watercolor How To Train Your Dragon from Etsy and then we had it printed on a poster board from Walgreens (and it turned out amazing!)
I created the Happy Birthday banner myself in Photoshop
