I know a lot of it is the crazy postpartum hormones that are currently raging through my body, but yesterday it kind of just hit me: I have a son. And technically, he wasn’t due to arrive until tomorrow – and yet, today, he is 10 days old. And with that realization, I covered his soft little head in kisses & cried happy tears. I am so beyond-words-thrilled that he is here!
So, just in case you’ve been living under a social media rock for the last few days – allow me to officially introduce to the world my little dude!
Leander Roxas Abbey was born 10 days ago, on Monday, December 3, 2018. He weighed 6lbs. 13oz. and was 19.5 inches long. (Just in case you were curious, he was a full 1lb. 1oz. lighter & 1 inch smaller than his big sister was when she was born.)
Leander: Lion Man
Roxas: The Red Dawn of Day
He is absolutely precious in every single way & we are all over-the-moon smitten.
I am in the process of writing out his birth story (to this day, Braelynn’s birth story remains one of my most visited & read blog posts!) so, that will be coming soon! Otherwise, I promise to do my best not to overload my blog with photos of my little cutie pie – no promises when it comes to my Instagram stories though! So, if you would like a daily-dose of Leander (and Braelynn), you’ll definitely want to follow me over there.
Over the last few days, I’ve attempted to snag some newborn photos of the little guy – but as it turns out, photographing your own child is way harder than photographing someone else’s (especially since Leander is such a snuggle bug – all he wants is to be held close). This afternoon, with the help of my sister, we were able to snag a few good images! So, below is a mix of images I’ve taken + images Ellen took this afternoon.
(And just in case you look at the photos of Braelynn & Leander and wonder at the slightly pained look on big sister’s face – she truly did not want to be anywhere near him! Tonight is the very first time she has asked to hold him – but before that, she would hardly even touch him! Poor big sister: having her world rocked by this little dude is proving to be quite the adjustment for her! She’s really doing marvelously though.)
[…] was so that Braelynn would be occupied & Mommy (with the help of Auntie Ellen) could take some newborn photos. Well, the kid is already a photographer’s child – he was simply not in the mood for […]
