I have a special connection with all of my brides & grooms – from the first communication inquiring about a wedding date, to having a cup of coffee & hearing all about their wedding plans, to emails back & forth about timelines & details & dreams, to their engagement session where we hang out & laugh & get to know each other even better, to their wedding day, when I generally get to be with the bride longer than she’s even with her groom.
I count all of my brides & grooms as my friends, but Ashley is special. She was my friend before she was one of my brides and for that reason, her wedding day was so extra ordinary.
Because we were friends first, I was able to share in moments that I normally don’t witness with my brides, like when Ashley hunted for the perfect wedding gown for weeks and months. I think that was the moment that I was looking forward to the most – when Ashley finally put on that unbelievable Maggie Sottero gown the morning of her big day. It was like magic.
And that seemed to be the theme of the rest of their wedding day. Magic. From the way the clouds gave way and the rain passed to unveil a brilliantly glorious day, to the peace that came over Ashley the moment she saw Jim for the first time at the end of the church aisle – magic. And I love photographing weddings that are magical.
I can’t get over these next two shots of Jim & his guys that my sister got while I was hanging with the girls!
I think Jim was as excited to see Ashley as she was to see him!
Meet the most adorable ring-bearer ever – Ashley’s nephew Julian! I think if you asked Ashley of her list of people she was most excited to see on her wedding day, the list would have gone something like 1. Jim 2. Julian.
Their party took place at Traditions at the Glen – and wow did they throw a good party!
Ashley’s maid of honor gave a sweet, emotional, and heartfelt toast, but Jim’s best man gave a toast that had the bride and groom in stitches.
