Ashley & Brady // McConnells Mill State Park in Slippery Rock Township, PA // Engagement Session

In a sea of stories where people meet at bars, or are introduced by mutual friends, or they simply go to school together – Ashley & Brady’s story is completely different. They met 100% by chance, or shall we say, accidentally on purpose.

One day, about 5 years ago, Brady was on Facebook. He was scrolling thru his news feed when Facebook presented him with a list of “people you might know” (you’ve seen these lists pop up on your own Facebook account, right?) Curious, he scrolled through the list of people: old friends he wasn’t interested in connecting with, people who were just acquaintances because they were friends of mutual friends, and a bunch of his friends’ Moms.

But then he stumbled across the photo of a girl named Ashley. She was pretty & blonde & she looked slightly familiar, even though he couldn’t quite place how. Out of the blue, he decided to reach out to her. He sent her a message with one word, “Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy” (and yes, he used that many “y’s”).

A little while later, Ashley hopped on her Facebook account to see what was going on with the world, and a message popped up. It was from a complete stranger & she was instantly curious. She responded to his one-word message, with one word of her own, “Hi”.

Brady messaged Ashley back, “You look really familiar, do we know each other?”

Ashley responded, “Nope. I don’t know you.”

By this point, Brady was determined to figure out where he knew this girl from. “Did we use to chat with each other on MySpace?” he countered.

Ashley answered, “No, I really don’t think we know each other at all.”

The conversation should have ended there & the two should have parted ways. But, as fate (or Facebook) would have it, the conversation continued. Brady introduced himself (reassuring Ashley that he was not a creeper or a stalker) and the Facebook messages continued to fly back & forth.

A few weeks later, they decided to meet in person, and a few months after that – they were officially dating. Good job, Facebook.

We got together a few weeks ago to celebrate their engagement (more on that story to come soon!) Ashley & Brady love to hike at McConnell’s Mill State Park, so it seemed like the perfect spot for their engagement session! We adventured all over the State Park & had so much fun – I cannot wait for their wedding next summer!
