A little over a week before Christmas – we got an epic snowstorm. I mean, it was so grand! Businesses closed down, people were warned to stay home – things reached a level we rarely see here in southwestern PA!
It started snowing around 10am and snowed heavily for 24 hours. We ended up getting around 12 inches of snow (which, I know, I know, that’s nothing compared to what some of you all get on a regular basis – but 12″ for Irwin, PA is a lot of snow!)
And, in the midst of that snowstorm – my sister called me: “Hey! Want to come over & take some Christmas photos of Nathan & I in the snow?”
How could I turn that proposition down?
Well, I almost had to! Derrick got home from work & said, “I don’t think you should go anywhere – the roads are getting worse.” We talked & debated (& maybe argued a little bit – shhhhhh) and eventually we came to the conclusion that if I was going to go, I needed to go now.
So I jumped in my car & off I went.
If you recall (and maybe you don’t, that’s okay!) – Amy & Nathan were engaged through two winters before their wedding this past summer. And the only thing my sister wanted was engagement pictures in the snow. We figured: we have 2 winters to live thru until the big 2020 wedding – we should definitely be able to make that happen!
WRONG. We hardly got any snow over those two long winters! I say “hardly” because – we did get about 2 inches one day & we made that work, but MAN were we hoping for a snow-day like this one!
In other words: this small, quick photoshoot was a bit redemptive for us & I absolutely loved it.
We found a few spots out in the snow around their new house & then cozied up in front of their Christmas Tree & “fireplace” for a few indoor photos. (And then I scraped the fresh layer of snow that had fallen off my car & bustled on home! The roads were definitely getting worse & I might have slid around a bit on the 5 minute ride home!)
Gotta love their matching Christmas pajamas!!
