What happens when you send a cute single guy and a lovely single girl to a conference for psychologists in Cleveland? Well, it only makes sense that that single guy, named Devin, would meet said single girl, named Amanda, and the rest would be history!

It’s always fascinating to me hearing a couple’s story: the twists and turns of a long distance relationship, Devin being hired by St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Amanda moving to Greensburg and accepting a position at Westmoreland Hospital. Working together, growing together, becoming each other’s best friend – it’s such a fun process!

And then they got engaged! Devin had told Amanda that he would probably propose sometime that year (it happened to be 2014) – but as the months rolled by, she started to get anxious. She even warned him: you better not wait until the very last seconds of the year to do it! He didn’t intend to – in fact he planned to propose at Christmas! But when the ring he had specially created for Amanda was delayed & had to be re-cast, his plans were pushed back, closer and closer to the end of the year!
So with the ring finally in hand, right before New Years, Devin took Amanda on a relaxed adventure around Pittsburgh, but he didn’t propose then. He ended their day at Phipps Conservatory, but he didn’t propose there either. It wasn’t until they got back home (and Amanda was actually in her pajamas), that he officially presented her the special ring and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. It wasn’t for overwhelming anxiety or crazy nerves, Devin just knew that Amanda would appreciate the special moment happening in private & she did!

They are getting married next month, but not before we squeezed in some engagement photos! Devin’s sister contacted me and purchased their engagement session last year at Christmas, but with their crazy schedules, this is the first chance we were able to get together. We had the most lovely evening together! We started at Mellon Park to get warmed up, and then spent an hour in the Outdoor Gardens at Phipps Conservatory! It was gorgeous and we had a fabulous time!

Remember that special ring Devin had created for Amanda? Isn’t is stunning?

And of course, we had to end our time at Phipps by taking a few legendary images (and doing a little dancing) in front of the complex!
