Have you ever met someone, and in conversation realized that you actually live kind of close to each other? (It’s craziest when this happens and you’re on the other side of the country, in a completely different state – it’s so wild!)
But, have you ever met someone, and in conversation realized that you actually live REALLY close to each other? As in, not just the same state or city, but literally so close that you wonder: “How have our paths never connected before now?!”
Well, that’s Alyse and Alex’s story. They both attended Penn State, but didn’t meet until after Alyse had already graduated (she stuck around State College post-graduation and that decision put her on the path to meeting Alex). Because of his time in the military, Alex still had one year left before he graduated from school. But when they met, and started talking, they realized that they both had been living barely blocks away from each other – attending the same college, but somehow, their paths never crossed until that fateful day in 2022.
They hit it off (almost) instantly and after dating for only a few months – with Alex’s graduation looming and a move back to Pittsburgh for both of them on the horizon – they looked at each other and said: “Let’s just find an apartment together.”
So, they did! And about a year later, they looked at each other and said: “Renting is silly, why don’t we just buy a house together.” So, they did! (And here’s the real kicker – their house is less than 3 miles from my house!)
To say that we had the best time celebrating their engagement earlier this fall would be an understatement. Alyse specifically suggested Alex bring his motorcycle and we start off doing photos with it. Like most guys, Alex wasn’t overly excited about having his photos taken, so she knew that including a (large) prop that was extra special to him would help him relax and enjoy the process a bit more. And it did the trick! I could have easily shot their entire session centered around that motorcycle, it was SO awesome (but we did venture down into Twin Lakes Park a bit too!) I can’t wait for their wedding next year!
