Rewind the clocks back four years: Chelsie and Alex were both attending Penn State.
If we want to get official about things, they technically met through an event Alex’s fraternity was hosting. But, in reality, that was just when they were introduced to each other. (Spoiler alert: it wasn’t “love at first sight” or anything like that.) They were introduced, became acquaintances, and that was about it.
They’d say, “Hi” whenever they’d see each other around campus and they had intersecting friend groups that put them at the same parties at the same times. But that was about it for about a year. Outside of knowing “who” the other person was, no spark was ever ignited.
In fact, the more Chelsie observed of Alex, the more she became convinced that he was way too serious of a guy. If they were at the same party, he always had a somber look on his face (and was usually the one constantly cleaning up everyone’s mess). He seemed to be very studious, too mature, and not very much fun at all. (Which earned him the nickname between just Chelsie and her friends: “Angry Alex”.)
But then, everything changed.
Late one night, as a gathering both Chelsie and Alex were attending was winding down, Alex struck up a conversation with Chelsie. It was totally random and out of the blue, and it caught Chelsie completely off-guard. Because not only was Alex NOT an angry person, he was actually very friendly and FUN?!
That conversation turned into another, which rolled into another – and before you knew it, they were officially dating. (And well, since this is a blog post about me photographing their engagement photos, you can connect the dots and figure out what happened next!)
A few weeks ago, Chelsie and Alex and I met up at The Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, PA – a location that’s been on my bucket list to shoot at forever. I joked with them that I’d only checked the weather one time leading up to their session – because it didn’t matter what the weather was doing! We were planning to be inside the entire time! (Normally, I check the weather like a meteorologist leading up to sessions.) We had the BEST time strolling around the Museum and enjoying the different rooms, art displays, and architecture of the building. (And getting SO excited for their wedding next year!)
