There’s a little snow on the ground and the cold air is blowing – it seems winter has finally officially arrived & it just seemed like the perfect time to re-visit Scott & Abigail’s wedding from last winter!
8 weeks postpartum, my 2015 wedding season began! I second-shot this wedding for my sister, Ellen, yep! The same Ellen who is usually my second-shooter! We switch back and forth and our first wedding of the year last year found her in the lead & me following along. It was perfect since I was just coming out of the fog of having a baby & had to re-learn how to shoot a wedding + be a Mama [meaning: take breaks to pump! It was a learning curve to be sure!]
Nevertheless, a chilly winter early March day found Ellen & I at Seven Springs Mountain Resort! Seven Springs has multiple outdoor ceremony locations, but with snow on the ground and the temps around the freezing mark, Scott & Abigail got married in the Alpine Room. The staff at Seven Springs was delightful to work with & worked so hard to make sure everything was perfect!
So, when I second-shoot, I’m in charge of details, little moments, and the guys. So, my day started shooting the empty ceremony room!
And then I got to hang out with the guys! Since I’m usually hanging out with the girls, chilling with the guys is a welcome change of pace! Guys are so much more laid back & relaxed [usually]. Tuxes take a grand total of 5 minutes to put on and without elaborate hair or makeup to be done, guys are typically just chill, watching sports, sipping beers, and hanging out.
Abigail sent over a lovely note & gift for Scott – he was so surprised and excited to receive this amazing watch!
I spy, with my little eye, a wild Kara!

Either, Scott was threatening to escape & run off & the guys were trying to hold him back, or the guys were trying to push him over the side – you choose!
As much as I love hanging with the guys all morning – this is my favorite part about being a second-shooter! While the main shooter is positioned at the front of the aisle, waiting for the ceremony & processional to begin, I get to be behind-the-scenes, capturing those last minute jitters and excitement!
One of my favorite “bride-walking-down-the-aisle” reactions!
After the ceremony, Seven Springs provided a bus for us to take over to a secondary location so we could take some fun portraits! Whoever ordered the swans did a fabulous job as well – they were perfect!
And while we were out attempting not to freeze our buns off – the staff transformed the ceremony space into a lovely reception space!
I love this!
Scott & Abigail had a number of kids at their wedding and they set up a specific table just for them! How perfect is this? Snacks, coloring, kid-specific-favors, a scavenger hunt?! It doesn’t get much better than this!
Their cake was gorgeous & went along with the peacock theme perfectly!
Abigail had a special dance with her sister and it was one of the most emotional special dances I have ever witnessed!
Those toes!
Someone took advantage of the lollipops on the kids table!
