Highlight of the Week
So, I turned 29 this week.
Derrick asked me if I “feel” on the verge of 30 – and honestly, the answer is: nope. I might be 29 years old, but I definitely feel like a 22 or 23 year old. Age is all mental, right?
My Grandma took me out to lunch on my birthday & Derrick took me out to a fabulous birthday dinner. The birthday celebrations continue on into tomorrow too when my Mom is hosting a belated birthday lunch. I won’t lie that all the birthday food is definitely the best part!
Yes, This Happened
- I am now 32 weeks pregnant & baby boy is approximately the size of a large jicama (what in the world is that?!).
- The process of renovating our 3rd floor continues! This week we went & looked at carpet (still no solid decisions made on that front – we had a “budget” in mind for what we wanted to spend on carpeting the room & potentially carpeting the steps up to it, but then the estimate came in at about double our budget – so we are still trying to figure out what to do there). Last night, my sisters came over & they had a little painting party up there (while I was out at a family photoshoot). They discovered that it was much more challenging to paint than they were anticipating! What they did though has already dramatically changed the look of the room (from dark & dingy to bright & modern). So, needless to say, I see a few more “painting parties” in our near future!
- Just a few weeks ago, a firetruck went screaming by our house & it sent Braelynn into a panic. We calmed her down & talked all about firetrucks and firemen and what they do – afterward Derrick said, “It would probably be really good if she could see a firetruck up close & meet a fireman.” I said that I knew the library brought in firetrucks on occasion, so I’d keep my ears open for the next time that was planned. Sure enough, this past Wednesday (yep, on my birthday!) was fire safety day at the library! We went and it was fabulous. The Irwin Fire Department did an excellent presentation & then let the kids not only climb up into the truck, but walked them all around, explaining what things were & letting them touch the different hoses & equipment. She was so excited to tell everyone all about it & it was such a great experience!
- This past Tuesday was my favorite day of the month: our Greensburg Tuesday’s Together meeting! Basically, any excuse to get out of my house & talk to other like-minded creative adults is amazing. And, since it was the day before my birthday, Tiffany brought in cupcakes & we had a little mini-celebration!
- I know every parent thinks their child is a prodigy, but seriously, we have been so impressed with Braelynn’s little art pieces over the last few weeks! She’s really shown an interest in drawing lately, so we found a fun step-by-step simple guide to drawing princesses & fairy tale things from the library this week & she has been eating it up! On Thursday, she brought me a drawing of a princess that not only had eyebrows, but irises inside of her eyeballs! I was simply amazed. She keeps telling us, “I want to be an artist!” and who knows? Maybe she’ll follow her Auntie Emma’s footsteps & create some really amazing works of art!
Feeling Blessed
Last Sunday afternoon we (and everyone else in Westmoreland County it seemed) went to Schramm Farms to get some delicious produce for the week, eat a few delightful fall treats, and pick some pumpkins!! Braelynn has been talking about going to a “pumpkin patch” for ages, so it was so much fun to go & pick out a few pumpkins! Unfortunately, the pumpkin she specifically picked out, has already bit the dust. Even though it was completely beautiful on the outside, it must have had a bad core as it has slowly deteriorated this week. I noticed it getting soft on Wednesday and by today it is almost completely mush. Let’s just say, it has since quietly “disappeared”.
