Highlight of the Week
This week has been absolutely beautiful. If this is what our fall season is going to be like (sunny, brilliant days, with temps in the upper 70’s) – I am here for it. It’s been so so beautiful – we’ve spent as much time as possible outside, soaking up all the fresh air & Vitamin D that we can! We even came down to the Lake a day early, just to enjoy the fabulous weather! These days can stick around straight through the end of November & that would be just perfect.
Yes, This Happened
- Leander finally discovered that we have stairs. I honestly can’t believe it took him this long to figure it out with all the exploring he’s done since becoming fully mobile a few weeks ago. But this week, he finally decided to adventure up the steps! It’s amazing to me that babies figure these things out (climbing up steps) so quickly & easily! He was trying to follow me up the steps – thankfully, it was in the evening & Derrick was keeping an eye on him. Derrick let him climb for a few minutes – Leander made it up a few steps & then stopped, giggling at his new skill. Needless to say, the gate has been brought down & put into employment. And Braelynn has already figured out how to crawl over it!
- Last Sunday, I met with the sweetest bride & groom to talk about their wedding photography for next year – after a crazy mix up (they were waiting for me, sitting outside Starbucks & I was waiting for them, sitting inside Starbucks) we finally connected. It turns out – the bride did the Disney College Program too!! She started her time working for Disney mid-August 2009 – when my time working for Disney ended mid-August 2009! I literally had the most amazing time talking with her – it’s so rare to find another DCP Alumni “out in the wild” – it was like meeting a magical unicorn!!
- Even though the weather has been gloriously warm, the leaves have just started changing here at the Lake. So, in the spirit of fall, we went & picked out some pumpkins yesterday at Klotz Corn Shack in McHenry, MD. We’ve been to pumpkin patches & farmers markets before, but none that has such a beautiful curated display! As if Pinterest photos of people’s front porch displays aren’t enough, walking thru Klotz’s display of pumpkins made me want to buy every single one!! They were all so beautiful & unique!
- I know I keep talking about how beautiful the weather has been – there was only one morning this week that it rained – and it only rained for a few minutes – but right smack in the middle of those “few minutes”, was when we were walking out of the grocery store & getting into our car. It’s the first time Leander has ever been “caught in the rain” and his face was absolutely hilarious! It was like he was offended at this cold, wet stuff falling from the sky – it was so cute!
- Having weddings I’ve photographed be published on blogs other than my own is always such a huge honor! And this week, Lauren & Joe’s wedding was featured on “I Do” Pennsylvania!
Feeling Blessed
I can’t believe it’s the end of September already. June & July seemed to be a fairly well-paced months. Then the month of August came & it just flew by (which was to be expected – we spent more days traveling than days at home in August). And then September arrived – which I swear was only like yesterday. If you asked me what today’s date was off the top of my head, I’d say it was somewhere around the 18th or 19th. I was even convinced that there was one more weekend in September (I have a coupon hanging on my fridge that expires on “September 30” and my Mom noticed it & asked if I was going to use it. I responded that I was: “Probably next week.” And Mom clarified: “October 1st is on Tuesday, you know.” WHAT? How did that even happen?! So, I guess September has flown by at the speed of light & October is upon us (which, is my birthday month, so I’m a bit partial to Octobers).
You know time is going to move fast though, when you can list out specific events that are happening every week or weekend from here thru Christmas – omigoodness I am so not ready for Christmas to be here so soon! That means it’ll be Leander’s birthday & Braelynn’s birthday – I am just not ready for this.
I’m going outside to soak up some more sunshine & pretend that it’s still summer. You all can have your fall & winter stuff – I’ll be desperately clutching to the last warm summer days. Bye.
