Highlight of the Week
This past week, my Grandparents (who we call Meme & Grandpa) celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. SIXTY years of marriage – how amazing is that?? And today, we all got together for a big, lovely party, celebrating their love & legacy. As if 60 years of marriage isn’t enough, their legacy is that there are 25 people as a direct result of Meme & Grandpa (just in case you are wondering: Meme & Grandpa had 2 sons, who both married, and had big families, and the grandkids are now getting married & having babies of their own). My cousins Lydia & Emily hosted & put together the entire event today & it was just marvelous. Almost 200 people came together to celebrate with us – it was simply wonderful.
Yes, This Happened
- This weekend has just been a weekend of celebrating! Last night, my family all got together & had dinner to celebrate my (other) Grandma’s 85th birthday! Her actual birthday is tomorrow – and I know she won’t see this because she doesn’t have a computer – but that’s okay: Happy Birthday, Grandma!
- If you feel like maybe you’ve seen this photo before (in a dream?) – you’d be correct! This photo is a re-creation of Abby’s Saturday #64 – two hundred and one Abby’s Saturday’s ago, when I took this photo with Braelynn! I didn’t even realize it (or intend for this to happen), but Brealynn & Leander are almost the exact same age in these photos!
- If you don’t know, My Mom & I are big consignment shoppers – we love “the hunt”. We always go to the big Just Between Friends sale in Monroeville that happens twice a year – and we’ve always heard about a consignment sale that happens at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds, but we’ve just never been there. Well, that changed yesterday as we finally made it out to see what this consignment sale was all about. I would say it was about half the size of the JBF sale (but, the JBF sale is ginormous, so even at half the size, it was still a good-sized sale). We found a few good deals & picked up a few more Christmas & birthday gifts – but the item we found that a certain little girl was most excited about, was a pink PAW Patrol bedding set – she was absolutely over-the-moon over that find!
- We went to the library on Monday & Leander got to take part in his first Music Together library class!! Every month or two, they replace storytime with a Music Together program & it’s always a ton of fun – Braelynn just loves the program! By now, we’ve pretty much memorized all of the songs & know all of the motions – and it was so fun to introduce Leander to it all! He just sat & watched everyone as they sang & danced – but his favorite part was when they brought out the little instruments & Braelynn brought him over a drum – he is a natural little drummer!
- Just in case you’re wondering: the answer is, YES. We are definitely missing amusement parks & roller coasters already. Especially because this week has been absolutely perfect weather – we so wish Kennywood was still open!
Feeling Blessed
My heart is just happy tonight. Happy, content, and sleepy. This week has been just glorious. We’ve done school every day, we’ve spent a ton of time outside soaking up the sunshine, I photographed 2 engagement sessions, the week has been full and yet at the same time relaxed & it’s been wonderful. I’m loving these warm, dry, sunny September days & I hope they don’t fade into fall too too quickly!
