Highlight of the Week

• Yes! This week was Halloween! So, today’s Abby’s Saturday photo is featuring our three “pups” – PAW Patrol pups of course! Braelynn is Skye, Leander is Marshall, and Abby is Rocky (he wears green & I couldn’t find a green “trucker’s” hat like he wears, so a green bandana it is!) Just in case you’re wondering, my Aunt made Braelynn & Leander their hats & they couldn’t have fit more perfectly!! Yes, This Happened

• We decided to take our little munchkins trick-or-treating this year. We’ve never done it before (and to be honest, this is the first year Braelynn even understands what it is). As I’ve mentioned, in the last few months, she has become bestest besties with our next-door neighbor, so when Moxie invited Braelynn to go trick-or-treating with her a few weeks ago, we said, “Sure, why not?” Our trick-or-treating got moved from Thursday night to last night due to severe storms & a tornado watch – so we walked our neighborhood last night. It was quite brisk, but the girls had a blast. And did we haul in the candy! How much candy is it okay for the parents to eat (#AskingForAFriend). It was fun though to walk around with our neighbors & chat & watch all the kiddos having fun.
• Derrick published a new roller coaster creation this week – are you subscribed to his YouTube channel? It’s kind of blowing up & I’m so so proud of him! All of his hard work is paying off – he’s closing in the gap on ONE MILLION VIEWS! He’s on track to hit it within the next 7-10 days!
• I added the next “chapter” to Derrick & I’s love story this week. I can’t believe I’ve been writing our story for 2 years now (with 22 “chapters”). I have the entire thing saved as a complete Google Doc & it’s just shy of 100 pages long – it’s literally a book. I’m getting close to finishing it though!! I’ve written up to May 2009 & (spoiler alert) we got engaged in August – so just a few more “chapters” to go & I’ll be done! I think when it’s completely completed, I’ll have to look into what it would take to get it printed somewhere like Stables & bound together as a book – wouldn’t that be cool?? Not to sell or anything, but just for myself & our kids!
• I’m probably completely behind on the times, but I discovered that The Piano Guys have a rendition of the Pirates of the Caribbean themes – how did I not know this? Needless to say, I’ve been playing it nonstop (it’s currently in my ears as I write this!)
• Speaking of music – my birthday is over & so is Halloween, so that means it’s officially Christmas music season! I have a running Spotify playlist that I add new Christmas music to every year & Braelynn has been obsessed with it. It’s good – so so good. So, how early is “too early” to put up your Christmas tree? Just curious..
• Leander turns 11 months old tomorrow. I’m in denial.

Feeling Blessed

Once again, Derrick is hard at work on the 3rd floor! All of the carpet has been ripped out, he just removed all of the old linoleum that was under the carpet & today’s task is shoring up the floor to make sure it’s completely ready for the new carpet to be installed next week! He also has plans to finish up the walls (I’m still championing for some paint, but he’s not 100% sold on that idea, yet) – so it’s a big workday here in the Abbey house – but that just means we’re getting so close to that space being finished! It’s so hard to believe that we’ve lived in our house for 4 years now & we’re finally finishing that 3rd floor space. It was one of the big selling factors when we saw this house & it’s so exciting that that dream of finishing it & making it usable space is finally coming to reality!!
