Black Lab Set up with Movie Lights for her Interview in Irwin PA
  • Another roller coaster week of quarantine life. I miss “normal” life so much. “Normal” as in: what our days looked like in February. No face masks, no toilet paper shortages, no amusement parks closed – just us, anxiously looking forward to spring, opening up the Lake House, going on some really exciting amusement park tours, and spring weddings. Will we ever go back to “normal”?
  • Leander has become quite the stinker this week – his mischievousness definitely went up a notch. Last week (or the week before?) he learned how to turn the water on in the bathtub. He could just barely reach it & he found it absolutely hysterical to turn the water on, and then splash around in the water pouring from the faucet. Well, this week, he figured out how to flop himself into the bathtub. Cue Kara losing her mind & making the decree that the bathroom door MUST stay closed at all times. Ay yi yi.
  • But wait – there’s more. He’s been climbing up onto our one couch for a few weeks now, but this week, he figured out how to climb onto our other couch. From there, he climbs onto a little side table we have and when he stands on that, he can turn the lights on & off in the living room – which, of course, is a great fun game. He can also touch the thermostat from that position.
  • But wait! There’s more! One day this week, after we had eaten lunch, Braelynn took it upon herself to get the box of “baby cookies” out of the cupboard & reward Leander with one of them. I didn’t mind – it was fine. With lunch over, I carried our dishes into the kitchen & Braelynn followed me (probably talking my ear off about something). We were in the kitchen for probably 2 minutes before walking back into the dining room, where we found Leander, still sitting in his high chair, had grabbed ahold of the tablecloth & pulled it halfway off the table – in order to pull the box of cookies closer to himself so he could grab another.
  • Needless to say, Leander is getting to be quite the handful – I’m sure I’ll have more shenanigans to report next week.
  • So, remember how I mentioned last week that I had made 2 failed attempts to create some video content for my blog & website? Well, third-times-a-charm, right? Undeterred, I went at it again on Tuesday this week & I actually got something that was useable! YAY I edited it up & published my first video that evening. I’m definitely still learning, but I’m excited to finally be on the “video” wagon & to create more video content for my blog & website! You can see that first video I made here.
  • Derrick texted me yesterday in the middle of the day & said, “Don’t make anything for dinner.” DONE – that was easy! He came home & said, “Let’s go get Chick-Fil-A & have a ‘picnic’ in our car.” And so we did! It was fun to do something different, while getting out of the house, oh & of course, you can never go wrong with Chick-Fil-A!!
  • After several weeks of rain & iffy weather, it felt like spring was finally, truly, trying to arrive this week! Today was literally perfect, and a few other afternoons this week were pretty gorgeous too – including Wednesday afternoon, when we packed a picnic lunch & went to the park to meet my sister for a picnic lunch! It’s the first time I’ve seen her in almost 7 weeks – and it was the very first time Braelynn & Leander got to see their new little cousin Layla! They were both so amazed at her – Leander just stood & stared at her sleeping in her stroller (and then tried to poke her – it’s okay). Braelynn got so excited when she finally opened her eyes that she grabbed Alethea & pulled her over to show her! We tried to explain that Alethea lives with Layla & sees her eyes open all the time – but it was just so exciting! Hopefully the warmer, sunny weather is here to stay.
