- Happy Easter weekend! Anyone else feeling this strange, detached, yet excited, anticipation for tomorrow? It’s definitely a weird feeling – like, I had to actually plan out our own Easter dinner this week, when normally, I’d just be making a side-dish and dessert to bring to my parent’s house. And if we weren’t doing that, we’d be making plans to spend the weekend (chilly or not) at the Lake House or at Derrick’s parent’s house. Staying home & being entirely by ourselves for Easter just seems, strange. But, on the other hand, it still definitely feels fun. Braelynn has been anticipating Easter for quite a while, so we’re still planning on doing all the “fun” stuff for her & Leander! I have their Easter baskets all made up (whew, can we just say how thankful I am that I already had all the items for their Easter baskets & wasn’t waiting to go to the store?!) – we’ll hide them tonight after the kids go to bed. We’ll watch our church’s Easter service in our living room, do an Easter egg hunt in our backyard, and then eat delicious food. I’m excited – it’s going to be a fun day.
- Even though tomorrow is Easter Sunday, we probably won’t actually put the kid’s special “Easter outfits” on tomorrow. We did that earlier this week, when it was warmer out, and I took a bunch of photos. Braelynn is actually wearing the dress that the flower girl in my parent’s wedding wore! Isn’t that so special? (Notice: both of my children are barefoot in their Easter photos – Braelynn does not own a pair of shoes that would look fitting with her dress & guess what? Neither does Leander! They both jumped shoe sizes over the winter, so I was holding off buying them spring/summer shoes. They’ve both been simply wearing rain boots whenever they go out into the yard & with us going on a month of quarantine (with at least 3 more weeks to go) I didn’t see the point in ordering shoes off of Amazon & hoping they’d fit! I guess that means you know where I’ll be headed once all this quarantine stuff is lifted!)
- Our poor Abby-girl had to go to the vet this morning. Last weekend, we noticed that her ear was super swollen & puffy. Derrick did some research & he came to the conclusion that it might be an “ear hematoma” – basically a swollen blood vessel in her ear. We watched it all weekend – it never seemed to bother her & she didn’t mind us touching it – but it wasn’t going away either. He called the vet on Monday & talked to them about it & they simply suggested we continue to keep an eye on it. We watched it all week & it really hasn’t changed in shape or size at all, so Derrick called again last night & got her an appointment for this morning. Thankfully, the vet seemed to think that it will go away on it’s own & didn’t feel he needed to do surgery to drain her ear. So, we will continue to keep an eye on it – poor pup!
- Speaking of dogs – we found Crusoe the Dachshund’s YouTube channel this week (how have we never seen this before?) and that has kept us thoroughly entertained for hours. If you haven’t yet, you have to check it out – he’s too cute!!
- In typical boy fashion, Leander is climbing up onto everything (or at least trying to). Braelynn has this mini-folding table that she likes to set up in the living room so she can draw & color and Leander figured out this week that he could climb up on top of it. Talk about heart-attack. Because, he doesn’t just stand up on it, he spins around, he throws his hands up, he yells, he stomps his feet – it’s all cute & hilarious – but equally terrifying. He also figured out how to climb up onto the footstool of the rocking chair in his bedroom – and that is even more terrifying because that thing moves. He fell off it just this morning & got a long scratch up his back. He didn’t care though – he was just angry that I wouldn’t let him climb back up onto it.
- I completed week 6 of the Couch-to-5K program. I’m not going to lie – I’m absolutely terrified of week 7 – running is definitely more mentally taxing than I ever anticipated.
- Since my first wedding of the year was (sadly & unfortunately) postponed for a date that I wasn’t available, that means that my new first wedding of the year is not until June. It’s driving me slightly crazy, so I did something I thought I’d never do this week: I ordered a bunch of little “styling” stuff off of Amazon. I’m going to grab some fresh flowers & my own jewelry & I’m going to practice shooting bridal detail flat-lays! I’m actually pretty excited about it – anything to help the time pass & get my creative juices flowing should be pretty fun! Now, I’m just waiting for it all to arrive in the mail (I completely understand Amazon giving shipping priority to “essential items” but, I have to admit, I find the shipping delays pretty annoying. I never realized just how much I relied on Amazon’s 2-day Prime shipping guarantee!)
- I hope you all have a safe & wonderful Easter weekend!
