Highlight of the Week

Happy March!!
We are all so happy that the month of February is done & over with – it was not the very best month in the Abbey house. From Braelynn getting so sick with Croup the last few days of January & taking the first 2 weeks of February to recover, to then us all picking up colds at the beginning of last week & poor little Leander getting an ear infection this week – it has been a month.
I am very thankful though – thankful that it was just Croup & colds & an ear infection & nothing more. There is so much crap going around – I’m so thankful we didn’t get stomach bugs or the flu.
I am thankful that even though both the kiddos have ended up on antibiotics this month – it’s been over a year since the last time we were so sick that we needed to go back to the doctor (we’ve visited our wonderful doctor 4 times in the last 6 weeks).
I’m so thankful that we all seem to (finally) be recovering. Braelynn & I are about 92% better (we have just a tiny bit of cold-stuff still hanging on), Leander is on amoxicillin (boo), but is returning to his usual pleasant & smiley self – the month of March is going to be “recovery” month for us! We’re going to build our immune systems back up & get back to normal!
So, happy month of March! Goodbye month of February – good riddance!

Yes, This Happened

• So, wedding season must be coming because I had my first wedding “nightmare” of the year. You know how everyone dreams about their old jobs or being back in high school & things going wrong? I dream about wedding days & horrible terrible things happening. This week’s dream was that I arrived on a wedding day, reached into my bag & realized that all of my batteries were dead and all of my memory cards were full of images I hadn’t downloaded yet. Ay yi yi. Needless to say, I do have a pile of batteries on my desk that need to be charged & they’re all currently charging right now.
• Since we’ve all been sick, we’ve stayed home all week. I did leave the house to take Leander to the doctor (poor little guy was diagnosed with his first ear infection) and I ran to the grocery store one evening, but Braelynn has not left the house all week long. It’s just been best for us to stay home, lay low, and recover. But the poor kid has been bouncing off the walls! Derrick came home last night & I said, “PLEASE, take Braelynn outside! Put on her boots & her coat & just let her run a few laps around the yard – she’s going insane!” We’ve been doing “school” and lots of art activities, but by the end of the week – those things simply were not cutting it any longer. So, they went outside & scraped enough snow off the ground to build a snowman together.
• Leander turns 3-months old tomorrow – how is that even possible?! Look for a full 3-month update coming on Tuesday!

Feeling Blessed

Omigoodness!! Do you see what everyone is wearing in this week’s photo?! (If you missed it, scroll back up & take a closer look!) My amazing & sweet friend Megan (who’s wedding I photographed almost 4 years ago) made the shirts & scarf up while I was pregnant with Leander & I have been dreaming of this photo ever since!! For some reason, I remember looking at the shirt she made for Leander & thinking it was “so huge” – and thinking it was a size 6-month or so. I’m so glad I pulled it out this week to look at it though – it is only 0-3 months! Thankfully, it’s a big 0-3 months, so I’ll definitely be wearing it on him a few more times – aren’t they the cutest?! My little mascots!
