Highlight of the Week
I’m not even sure where this week went. I feel like, wait, it’s Saturday already? Maybe it’s just because we were away all week last week & so coming home meant catching up on laundry & groceries & house-stuff & business-stuff? Or maybe it’s because I’m looking at the calendar for the month of August & seeing how absolutely crazy busy it’s going to be (like, it’s insane – in a good way, but insane). I feel like I’ve had a million things on my to-do list every single day & even though I’ve conquered every day’s tasks, I’ve still woken up the next morning to a new million things to do. (I use the app “Todoist” for my to-do list by the way, it syncs between my phone & computer and I have lists on it for groceries, blog post ideas, Christmas gift ideas, as well as all the things I need to get done! It’s such a handy app!) So yeah, looking back at this week, it just seems like a blur.
Yes, This Happened
- I was updating my “wedding portfolio” – the images I have on my iPad to show couples when I meet with them – and wow, talk about an impossible task! I like my portfolio of images to be around 100 photos, because any more than that just gets overwhelming – but geez, I’ve photographed too many weddings to “easily” narrow it down anymore! I remember the day when putting together my “portfolio” was super easy & quick – now it literally takes me hours of painfully trimming beautiful images away to make room for newer, better images. It’s so so so hard!
- While I was cleaning off my iPad, I found the slideshow of images from our trip to Texas 2 years ago. Omigoodness, cue all the tears – Braelynn was SO TINY! We have such wonderful memories from that trip – I can’t believe it’s been over 2 years since we were there! And, how has my baby girl gotten SO big SO fast?!
- Erika & Sean’s engagement photos were published this week!
- If you can’t tell from this week’s photo – Braelynn has been super obsessed with the PAW Patrol lately. This is the Chase we found at a yard sale 2 weeks ago!
- We turned in our last reading logs at the library this week! Fingers crossed we win something!! It’s definitely been quite the learning experience to try to explain to Braelynn that the tickets we fill out & prizes we pick are all simply a drawing & we might not actually win anything! Her poor 4-year-old little brain just does not understand that concept.
- I’m claiming Leander’s first word as “Mama”! He’s been saying it more and more (usually when he’s upset it comes out pretty clearly) – but it’s so sweet! I makes my heart melt into a puddle on the floor!
Feeling Blessed
Derrick & I are off to photograph another beautiful wedding today! I can hardly believe it, but the forecast is perfect – no rain, not too hot – it’s going to be an incredible day! It’s the first day we’ve left both kiddos behind all day! Up to this point, I have had some amazing girls help me by second shooting for me – which allowed Derrick to stay home with the kids! He knows Leander & his routine best, so it’s worked out really well. Today, Derrick is coming with me though, so both kids are staying with my Mom! They’re going to be just fine & have a super fun day, but that doesn’t mean I’ll miss them any less. I’m so thankful for this job that allows me to stay home 95% of the time & spend my days with my sweet little babies!
