Highlight of the Week
This week was the 4th of July holiday! It fell in the middle of the week – on Thursday. Derrick had both Thursday & Friday off, so we’re currently enjoying a glorious 4-day weekend! It also means that – since Wednesday evening – I’ve literally had no idea what day it was!
We debated whether we should attempt to go see fireworks or not & finally decided to go for it. We knew Braelynn would really love it & even though it meant completely forgoing bedtime & keeping the kiddos up wayyy late, it was only one night. We decided to go to Kennywood on Wednesday evening to enjoy the park & the fireworks display there. It was a beautiful, so-much-fun evening! We had anticipated that Leander would simply fall asleep around bedtime, but he never did. Both Braelynn & Leander stayed awake the entire evening to watch the fireworks at the end of the night! We had such a fun time – and after going to see the fireworks at Kennywood last year, I’m thinking that this might be our new family tradition for the 4th of July.
Yes, This Happened
- I’m off to shoot a beautiful wedding today! I’ve been looking forward to celebrating Sean & Erika’s wedding with them today for so long – I’m so excited that it’s finally here! Stay tuned for sneak peeks on my Facebook page tonight, plus wedding day highlights this coming week!
- I don’t want to specifically spell it out quite yet, but Derrick & I got invited to a very special event this coming week! We are literally over-the-moon excited – it’s an incredible opportunity & I can’t wait to share all about it!
- So, after going to Kennywood on Wednesday evening, we woke up Thursday morning & came down to the Lake House. Thursday night, we went thru our normal bedtime routine & put the kids to bed. There was just one problem: Braelynn didn’t actually go to sleep. About an hour after we put her to bed (and assumed that she went to sleep), we heard Leander cry out & about 60 seconds later, Braelynn came peeking out of the bedroom. Along with her non-sleepy eyes, the strong smell of nail polish wafted out – which, needless to say, instantly set us on high-alert. It turns out, that instead of sleeping, Braelynn had found 3 bottles of nail polish & proceeded to paint her own fingernails, then the wall, the door, and the window frame. Then, she found the lotion I have for Leander, and she continued to paint that all over the wall. Needless to say, it was a giant mess. It’s one of those stories that we’ll look back on & laugh at (but, not today).
- It might have been a short week, but it’s been a busy one! A family photoshoot, a wedding meeting, a trip to the library, trips to the grocery store, and lots of laundry.
Feeling Blessed
Like I said, we’ve spent Thursday & Friday at the Lake House – it’s been a bit different though: it’s just been us, my sister Ellen, Jonathan, & Alethea, my sister Amy, and my cousins Zeb, Emily, & Leah! Three married couples each with at least one baby (two of our babies just 2 days apart!) plus one engaged one. It’s been a blast to spend time with everyone! We’ve so enjoyed sitting around together, eating together, watching our babies play with each other, swimming in the Lake, and enjoying one another’s company! It’s been strange not to have “the adults” here with us (I still don’t always think of myself as an adult – that would be my parents & my Aunt & Uncle) – but it’s been really wonderful to be “the adults” & make new memories for our sweet babies altogether!
