200.
WOW. What a number! How is it even possible that my little weekly photo project has turned into 200 images?! It literally started out as a simple exercise in breaking out my camera at least once a week & getting creative with the only (willing) subject I had at my disposal: my dog. I posted the very first “Abby’s Saturday” on August 17, 2013 (yes, coming up on 5 years ago). I never had a single lofty intention of carrying this project on for 5 years & 200 images, but, here we are!
And yes, in case you’ve done the math, I have not posted 200 consecutive weekly posts starting in August of 2013. I did take a few months off (my whole blog took a few months off) when we went through our process of moving across the state & having a new baby the winter of 2014/2015. But after we began to get settled with Braelynn as a new member of our family, I realized that I missed taking those weekly “Abby” photos, so we hopped back on the train & have been at it pretty much every week, ever since.
I used to just post a photo. No words about our week or updates on our lives – just one single image. It was definitely easier that way, but I found myself looking for a place to share some insights into our days & my weekly “Abby’s Saturday” post seemed the best place to do that. So, the format has grown & evolved.
It just boggles my mind that I’ve published 200 images of my dog. I mean, does that label me as a crazy pet owner, or what?!
I love how it’s stretched me. It’s also definitely frustrated me. I’ll get spurts of ideas and then have weeks where I simply have absolutely nothing. I love what I’ve learned through picking up my camera every single week (granted, most weeks now include me picking up my camera to shoot for my business, but back in 2013, I only had 3 weddings booked, so this little exercise definitely forced me to get out & shoot every single week). I’ve taken photos of Abby in 3 different houses and literally pushed every single room, corner, and space to its limits in trying to do something “different” every week.
What an incredible journey.
