- Today marks Amy & Nathan’s one-week wedding anniversary! One week ago right now, people were arriving to their backyard wedding & being seated in the ceremony space. I can’t believe it’s been a whole week since last Saturday already!
It was seriously the most beautiful, fabulous day – the perfect wedding day for my sister. And it flew by (as all weddings do) in the blink of an eye.
Amy & Nathan had been engaged for 2 years – and in that time they planned a modest-sized wedding at a local country club. And then, COVID-19 decided to arrive on the scene & shut the entire world down. They made the (super tough & bittersweet) decision at the end of March to cancel the wedding they had been planning for the last 2 years & re-vamp absolutely every single detail of the day – from the location to the guest list.
The location of the wedding changed to my parent’s backyard. It’s a fabulous location for a wedding – don’t get me wrong! It’s huge & level & let’s be honest: perfect for a wedding! The trick to it being a backyard wedding though, was we were now responsible for all of the work – cleaning up the yard, securing tables & chairs, laying everything out, setting everything up (& moving it around & moving it around again), decorating, figuring out microphones & speakers & bathrooms & parking, oh and yes – cleaning everything up when the wedding was over. Thankfully, we (the Eichelberger family) were up to the task! I went over to my parent’s house almost every single day the week of the wedding to help in any way I could. One day – I went over & just ironed tablecloths. Before you laugh at that statement – I seriously ironed tablecloths for about 6 hours straight – no joke.
All that hard work completely paid off though – the day was perfect & wonderful & so so beautiful. My sweet friend, Tiffany was there to photograph the entire day – so Ellen & I were able to sit back, relax, and enjoy the wedding (translation: chase our children around).
Speaking of our children: Braelynn & Alethea were the flower girls and Leander was the ring bearer. They were SO darn sweet & fun to watch. I know the day was Amy & Nathan’s, but I was 100% smitten with how adorable the kids were the whole day!
Derrick was in charge of the video for the wedding day and (I know I’m biased but) it’s turning out amazing. He did a fantastic job & I cannot wait to see the final product!!
The whole day was simply a happy dream & I am just over-the-moon for my little sister & her new husband (finally!) - Yes, this week’s Abby’s Saturday photo is, in fact, a photo of my dog’s butt.
- I photographed my very first session since COVID-19 arrived on the scene this week! It was an engagement session at Twin Lakes Park & it felt SO good! I was a tiny bit nervous – I kept seeing all of these other photographers complaining about being “rusty” from not photographing sessions, but I refused to let those thoughts go to my head & I had so much fun! I’ll be blogging those photos soon!!
- Braelynn has learned the trick of repeating everything we say (repeating everything we say). She thinks it’s really funny (she thinks it’s really funny) to repeat back every phrase (to repeat back every phrase) when we’re having random conversations (when we’re having random conversations). You get the idea (you get the idea).
- Derrick & I got another new mattress – this time around we ordered a standard, traditional spring mattress (no more memory foam). It just arrived yesterday so we’ve only slept on it one night – the verdict is still out! We’ll give it a few more days to see if it makes a difference with Derrick’s hip/back – fingers crossed!
- Speaking of Derrick – it was his birthday this week! We celebrated by going out to eat in a restaurant!! It was the first time we’d been out to dinner since February! I must admit: it felt SO GOOD to leave behind the pile of dishes & food on the floor for someone else to clean up (no worries: we always tip pretty substantially when we go out to eat – we know our kids make a huge mess!)
- Yesterday, Braelynn requested “an egg like you make for yourself, but with no dip” for breakfast.
- TODAY is my first wedding of 2020! I’m such a ball of excited nerves! I absolutely cannot wait to celebrate with Molly & Justin today (the highlights of today will be on my blog this coming week!) The weather is perfection – it’s going to be an incredible day!
