- I am OBSESSED with Braelynn’s new smile! She lost ANOTHER tooth this week – leaving this massive gap in the front of her teeth! It’s so darn cute!
She lost her very first tooth last week & the tooth next to it was super wiggly as well. Honestly, I think she probably could have pulled both teeth out at the same time – but after the first one came out – she decided she wanted to WAIT to pull the second out until her birthday (which is in 9 days). Well, on Wednesday night, she & Derrick were sitting on the couch, practicing some reading, when Derrick saw how loose that last scraggly tooth was. He told her she needed to pull it out because he was afraid she’d loose it in the middle of the night & then swallow it. Of course – this would never work – so Braelynn popped it right out. I was upstairs, giving Leander a bath, so I missed it (again! I missed her pulling out the first tooth too!) She was SO excited though & I’m absolutely obsessed with her new (temporary) smile. - I have been in major “organization” mode this week. Maybe it’s due to the fact that all of our Christmas decorations are officially down & put away? But I have been in “clean out all the things” super-mode! It’s so funny to me how, certain things just get set up when you move into a house – and they simply stay that way forever. Like, certain items were placed in cupboards (& it makes absolutely no sense for them to be there) so, why have I never moved them? I also cleaned out things like – we had a whole drawer in the dining room dedicated to bibs – Leander hasn’t worn a bib in ages (if we are eating something messy, we just take his shirt off). Needless to say: it feels so good to have so much cleaned up & re-organized in a better, more functional way! Most of the organization I did was behind cupboard doors & drawers, but mentally it feels really good to know that my spaces is being used so much more effectively!
- Leander learned how to turn off our heat this week – so that’s fun. He figured out how to open our thermostat & flip the switch so our heat is “off”. Why he figured this out – I have no idea (it’s not like it beeps or lights up or anything). We came home last Sunday from having lunch with my parents, and after putting Leander down for a nap, I walked downstairs & was like “Wow, it’s freezing in here!” I looked at the thermostat & we were at 64º! We’ve caught him turning off the heat several other times this week – so it’s just something else to keep an eye on. Kids..
- Braelynn woke up super early yesterday (like 5:30am). When I followed her downstairs & asked her why she was up so early, she responded, “I decided to take the day off.” “Off of what?” I asked. “Off of sleeping.”
- I posted one of my favorite blog posts of the year this week: the annual Abby’s Saturday blooper post! Did you see it?
- Speaking of blogs this week, I also posted Amy & Nathan’s snowy winter photos I did right before Christmas for them – it has me wishing we’d get another big, epic, snowstorm!
- So, Leander has a set of about 10 books that are his absolute favorite. We rarely branch out from reading those 10 books for naptime & bedtime (they include a few “How Does A Dinosaur..” books, his “Little Blue Truck” books, and a few others). I realized this week, if I pause mid-sentence in those books (that I literally have memorized from reading them 10 billion times) – he has them memorized too & will (usually) fill in the blank with the word that should come next! It’s hilarious & such a fun exercise!
- Braelynn & I went thrift shopping this week (we haven’t been in forever – I miss it so much!) and she saw VHS versions of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 on the shelf. She instantly picked them up (because, she loves Toy Story!) I laughed & asked her if she knew what they were & she said, “They’re books, right?” Well, they’re the shape & size of books, but definitely not books.
- Leander is already a professional “fake sleeper” – he’ll lay down, close his eyes, and snore – it’s hilarious. But now, he’s also a professional “fake crier”. He probably learned this “skill” from his big sister – but now, when something upsets him, he’ll whine super loud, then cover his faces with his hands, and “cry”. Oh man, it’s hilarious – how does one watch that & not laugh out loud?!
- We’re moving into BIRTHDAY MODE over here! Braelynn’s birthday is just 9 days away & we have a party planned for next weekend! To say that she’s a little excited would be an understatement!
