- Happy first day of August – wait, WHAT?!
- I am continuing the “pool” series! I’ve taken a handful of Abby’s Saturday photos based around the kiddie pools we’ve had & so of course we had to continue the “trend”! If you want to go back & see the progression, start here:

One hundred and fifty-three - So, on Monday, my brother texted me & said that he & my Dad were working, installing a furnace & air conditioner, just a few blocks down from my house and he casually suggested we take a walk & come down to see them. We thought that would be fun, so I put Leander in the umbrella stroller & Braelynn, Leander, and I walked down the street. After a quick visit, we walked back up the street to head home. We were on the sidewalk the entire time, so when Braelynn asked if she could push the stroller, I said, “Sure!”
We were right across the street from our house, so we went down the one side, crossed the street, and as we were about to head back up onto the sidewalk that’s right in front of our house – Braelynn got a little more adventurous & gave Leander a running start toward the sidewalk. If she had been just a few more inches to the left, she would have hit the “ramp” and scooted right up onto the sidewalk. Unfortunately, that’s not what happened.
She missed the “ramp” and rammed right into the edge of the sidewalk, propelling the stroller straight down into the ground.
Poor Leander was buckled in, so he went face-first into the sidewalk.
Of course, I watched it all happen in slow-motion, powerless to stop any of it from actually happening. I picked the stroller up, unbuckled Leander, and scooped him right up (terrified at what I was going to see). He had a super nasty bump/bruise/scrape on his forehead & his elbow, but thankfully it didn’t look too horrific.
Braelynn felt awful. She was instantly crying & saying, “I’m sorry, Leander! I’m sorry! I’m so sorry! Oh, Leander!” It was a pretty dramatic scene. Thankfully, we were literally right in front of our house, so we all simply ran inside. A few minutes of crying, some ice, his blankie, and Cars later – we all recovered.
I thought Leander’s boo-boo would last forever. I assumed it would turn black & blue & he would have it for at least a week – but after 5 days – it’s pretty much completely gone already! - In putting Braelynn to bed one night this week, we realized that Braelynn’s feet almost touch the end of her toddler bed. We knew that she was quickly outgrowing it, but didn’t realize just how close we were to that point! Thankfully, my parents still have my old twin bed headboard & footboard that I got for my 16th birthday from my Grandparents. We just need a mattress & boxspring & we’ll be all set! Of course, then she also will need new sheets & a comforter – in other words, you know what we’ll be shopping for next week!
- Derrick & I really wanted to go to Cedar Point this year for a day by ourselves. Not that we don’t like taking the kids with us to parks (we love it) but we literally never can ride any rides together (which is fine, but it’s nice to ride coasters with a partner). We went to Cedar Point by ourselves 4 years ago for Derrick’s 30th birthday, then we went to Cedar Point last year, but we took the kiddos with us, so we were hoping for another kid-less trip this year. Derrick looked at Cedar Point’s calendar this week & realized that they are only open during the week until mid-August – and with some extended time at the Lake House coming up, a trip to visit Derrick’s parents, wedding season (kinda-sorta) starting back up, we realized that it was now or never! So, Derrick took off on Thursday, the kids stayed with my parents for the day, and we went off to Cedar Point for the day! We had a beautiful, 80º, cool, day (it’s funny when 80º is “cool” – every other day we’ve spent at an amusement park has been in the 90’s). We didn’t end up getting to ride everything we had wanted to (Steel Vengeance was down for the entire day & Top Thrill Dragster went down while we were standing in line for it) but we still had a fun time. I took videos all day to create a vlog – so stay tuned!
- Speaking of vlogs, I published our Hersheypark vlog this week, did you see it?
