- Labor Day has come & gone and so now I guess it’s officially fall? Everyone seems to have jumped lock-stock-and-barrel onto the “Happy Fall” train & I’m just not there yet. September is still summer – right?
- Last weekend, I photographed Nikki & John’s wedding & then Sunday morning we got up & left to celebrate Labor Day down at the Lakehouse. I must say: Sunday & Monday were absolutely gorgeous – potentially the best Labor Day weekend I remember having down at the Lake. The kids swam, we went on long boat rides, we played games, we sat around the fire – it was delightful.
- My family was spending the rest of the week at the Lakehouse, so the kids & I were planning on staying most of the week as well. Here’s the trick though: I photographed a wedding on Saturday & I had a ton of post-wedding work to do (namely, getting the images culled, prepped, and blogged). But, no worries – I have a laptop & I can work anywhere! There’s just one problem: I need a laptop charger. And, yes! I brought it with me – I had done a little bit of work on Sunday afternoon while Leander napped – so I was positive I’d brought it. But, when I sat down to do a little work on Monday afternoon – I couldn’t find my charger anywhere. I figured that someone must have just moved it – no worries. I accomplished what I had time to on Monday, and by the time Tuesday evening rolled around, I was beginning to be super perplexed as to where my charger was – and I was also really needing it. I have one of the new MacBook Pro’s, and thankfully, the charger is a USB-C plug – which is also the plug that charges Derrick’s phone. I figured I could make it work with Derrick’s phone charger that was in my car. The trick is: I didn’t have a cube that would pull enough charge for my laptop. Even if I had it plugged in, the charge still dropped (just a little slower than if I didn’t have it plugged in). I literally ripped the house apart looking for my charger & couldn’t find it anywhere. I began texting people who had been at the Lakehouse over the weekend & finally, on Wednesday afternoon – I got the confirmation that someone had indeed accidentally taken my laptop charger home. I did eventually figure out a way to get my laptop to charge a little bit faster & I got everything done that I needed to get done – but OY it was a bit crazy for a little bit there!
- Anyways – we stayed at the Lakehouse as long as we could, but we had to come home on Thursday in order to do laundry – so we could turn around, re-pack, and head north to visit Derrick’s parents for the weekend.
- I took some new & updated photos of my littlest sister Ruby while we were at the Lake – and oh my goodness! She literally looks so mature & grown up – how did my baby sister suddenly become a gorgeous, incredible, stunning woman?
- Leander keeps saying these strings of sounds that really really sound like words & phrases. They aren’t super clear yet, but they definitely sound like complete thoughts and they’re in proper context! I really am starting to think that this kid is just going to start spitting out full sentences & skip over the whole one-word-at-a-time step!
