- It’s our last week at the Lakehouse & I’m not sure I’m ready for the season to be over. We spent less time there in 2021 than in year’s past, partially due to all the roller coaster travels we did, and partially due to the way my wedding season lined up this year. It’s been a “different” year – but still a full, fun year – just with a little less time at the Lake. And suddenly – it’s October & fall & time to begin closing up the cabin for the winter.
It just means that the holidays & the “off-season” are right around the corner!! I’m totally ready for that!! - Leander is on the verge of needing to drop his afternoon nap. On the verge: meaning some days, he’s fine not to nap, and other days, he gets to about dinner-time & loses his mind.
If he takes a nap, he struggles to go to bed. We put him to bed at bedtime & he just lays there playing, talking, & singing to himself for 1-2 hours.
Without a nap, he pretty much goes right to sleep.
So, I’ve been working on weaning him off his afternoon nap this week. We’ve had successes & we’ve had fails – let’s just say: it’s been an adventure. - Along with that – Leander has suddenly decided that he’s a “big” boy when it comes to sitting at the table & eating. He’s been sitting “at” the table for a while now (he decided he was scrapping the tray to his high-chair seat a few months back) but he’s still been sitting in his high-chair – just pushed up to the table (that’s how it’s designed – it converts from a high-chair to a booster seat). Well, this week, he decided that he wanted to sit at the table without the booster seat. He has to sit up on his knees – but you can just see it in his eyes – he’s a big boy now.
- So, while I was sick – the one thing that I decided I wanted to do was watch the Harry Potter movies. I re-read the books back in the spring/early summer, so it was time to re-visit the movies. We signed up for HBO-Max for a month so I could watch them, and once we completed them, we looked for something else to watch while we still had the subscription. For some reason, we decided on the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I used to be obsessed with the Lord of the Rings – back when the movies were originally being released – I read all the books, had posters & artwork & t-shirts, did research papers on JRR Tolkien – I was thoroughly swept up in that fantasy-world. I haven’t seen the movies in a very long time (probably at least 10 years), so watching them again has been interesting. I can still recite (almost) every single line & hum every single theme – it’s so interesting how the brain attaches itself & recalls these things (but, most of the time, I can’t tell you what I wore yesterday).
- I officially finished my local family mini-sessions this week!! I had to postpone them when I got sick, but thankfully everyone was amazing & (almost) everyone was able to transfer to another date super easily. Family photos aren’t my super-duper favorite, but I do love catching up with the families I’ve photographed year after year (usually starting with their engagement & wedding photography, and now following them into parent-hood & kiddos!!) My “photography” calendar is still super busy over the next few weeks – with lots of weddings & engagement sessions – I’m excited!
