- After taking 374+ images of Abby, I’m bound to repeat a few, right?
Typically, I love the repetition – I love to see the progression of my skills & how things have changed.
But, this time – I’m not loving it so much. Why does Braelynn look SO OLD in this photo?! I mean, she’s SIX years old – not 14!! (insert all the emotions here)
But yes, this is a photo that we have taken before. When Braelynn first moved out of her crib & into a toddler bed, we took a photo: #147. A few weeks later, we had rearranged her room & we took another Abby & Braelynn in her bed photo: #155. Then, when Braelynn transitioned out of the toddler bed & into a twin bed, we took a photo: #314. And now here we are – with Braelynn’s twin bed fully “princess-ed” – four-posters, canopy, and all.
Fun story: this bed frame (the headboard & footboard) were actually mine. I got them as a birthday present as a teenager from my Grandparents. I loved the fact that it could convert into a four-poster bed (or have the posters removed for just the simple headboard & footboard). I always wanted a canopy like this – but the closest I ever got was buying myself a canopy at Kohl’s that was for a queen size bed (so it was too big). I made it work with pins & ties, but I feel like all of my little girl dreams have come true, now that Braelynn has this bed & the proper-sized canopy for it. - Last weekend, Derrick’s parents came for a visit on their trek down through the country to Texas! They were here Saturday thru Monday (well, technically they left Tuesday, but they left in the wee hours of the morning, before even Derrick was up!) We went to the pumpkin patch with them, went out to dinner for my birthday with them, and then Derrick’s Dad helped with a few very minor projects around our house that he could do in a super short amount of time. One of those projects was putting Braelynn’s headboard & footboard on her bedframe! It’s a long story: but I hunted high & low at my parent’s house & have never been able to find the screws for the headboard & footboard. They’re gone. So, Derrick’s Dad was able to run to the hardware store really fast & grab new screws & put her bed together (thus, the canopy!) It was so nice having them here – the kids were in heaven. And now, they’re down in Texas for a few weeks – soaking up some sunshine!
- On Wednesday this week, Braelynn thought she was going to be super helpful & refill Leander’s cup with juice. She’s done this a time or two & she’s always been super careful & it’s fine.
But not this time.
She refilled his cup just fine, but in putting the juice back into the fridge – instead of putting it on the bottom shelf (where it came from), she decided to lay the bottle on it’s side and put it on the top shelf. (Why??!) Well, newsflash, the lid was not screwed on tight enough to lay like that & a lovely waterfall effect then occurred.
I had to pull everything out of the fridge in order to clean it up (I mean, my fridge needed cleaned out – but I wasn’t planning on doing it on Wednesday).
And not only that, but it spilled all over the floor – which turned the kitchen floor into a sticky mess.
It was just delightful.
Braelynn felt so bad & did her best to help me clean it up (complete with “mopping” the floor – oy). She was so apologetic & sweet in helping – how could I be upset? - Speaking of Braelynn – she is off on an adventure this weekend! Since I’m shooting a wedding today (it’s the first of a 4-week-in-a-row sprint to the finish line & the end of my 2021 wedding season!) and Derrick is coming along to help, Braelynn went with her Grandma & Auntie Ruby down to the Lakehouse for the weekend. She’s in heaven.
And that means Derrick & I only have one child at home: Leander! It’s SO STRANGE only having one kid!! He’s hanging out with his Auntie Amy (& Uncle Nathan) and Auntie Emma today while we’re at the wedding – so you know he’s going to have a great day!
