- Wait, it’s Saturday? I’ve completely lost track of the days of the week, after traveling across 7 states two weeks ago, spending a long weekend at Hershey Park this past weekend, then after less than 24 hours at home, turning around & heading down to the Lake House for a few days – I’m completely turned around & have no idea what day it is.
- To make things even more confusing – Derrick is gone all day long shooting a promo video for a camp my Dad is on staff for, so today really-truly feels like a week day (But seriously – this is such a cool project Derrick is working on, I can’t wait to see what he does with it!!)
- My wedding photography was featured on, not one, but TWO different wedding publications this week (say, what?!) It’s so funny how long these things take – I submitted these weddings months ago, and finally, after literally forgetting all about them, I got notice that they’ve been published! And TWO, on back-to-back days! If you’re curious, I was published on A Princess Inspired & Rustic Folk Weddings.
- I was supposed to be out, celebrating a fabulous wedding day today – but alas, COVID-19. Kim & Dan made the super challenging decision a few weeks back to postpone their wedding day & in the end, I think they’re probably so glad they did! Of course, right after they officially postponed, things started opening back up & restrictions began to lift & it almost felt like, “Oh crap, maybe they should have left it.” But then, just last week, things got shut back down & regulations were re-set (some even more stringent than before), so in the end, I think it was for the best. I’m SO sad not to be out shooting today though – I miss it & miss celebrating with my couples!!
- Anyways – yes! As mentioned above – we went away last weekend to ride more roller coasters (of course). This time it was simply a long weekend spent at Hershey Park – just on the other side of our own state. Let me just say: traveling thru all of these regulations & restrictions is definitely weird. I think by now we’re used to wearing masks in the grocery store & restructuring our old “normal” to a new way of dealing with things – but I know for us: in our heads, we were still expecting our traveling to be “normal”. But, so much has changed with restaurants being closed, hotels having a long list of new regulations, and of course, having to wear a mask everywhere. It’s just all new water to tread. We still had a super fun time – the kids loved Hershey – Leander was able to ride a bunch of the kiddie rides with Braelynn & he had a blast with that. We visited the park during a crazy heat-wave (temps reaching up into the upper 90’s both days we were in the park, with real-feel temps over 100º) so we spent a lot of time in the waterpark section, just trying not to fry to a crisp – it was a lot of fun though! I know I’m terribly behind in blogging our trips, but one of these days (when we’re home longer than a 24 hour stretch) I’ll get caught up & share more!
- We came home from Hershey on Monday evening & with nothing on our calendar at all for the week, we did laundry, re-packed, and headed down to the Lake House for a few days. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the best weather while we were there – but we did squeeze in some swimming & a few long walks almost every day. The lake is SO warm – I never remember it being quite so warm this early in the year. Usually, it takes until late August for the lake to get this warm (it literally feels like bathwater) – it’s delightful!
- The kids & I came home yesterday & we went off to Kennywood for the evening (I’m telling you – adding that dining plan to our season pass was the best decision we ever made!) It was a gorgeous evening of rides & delicious food & ice cream! Ahhhhh, we love our home park.
