- Remember how “easy” I said it was taking last week’s photo? It was equal parts difficult taking this week’s photo – but I prevailed.
- Technically, I’m a few days early – but Abby’s birthday is this coming week! Our sweet pup will be TEN years old – she’s still as wonderful as ever, but we are starting to see her age in the grey that’s suddenly appearing around her eyes & nose and in her preference to lounging around over getting up & checking things out. She still loves to play frisbee & will swim in the Lake for hours, but everything else is slowing down for our sweet girl. We all love her to pieces. (see past Abby’s birthday posts here: #250 – WOW so much changes in a year! – #99 #99B)
- Mattress update: it’s now been 2 full weeks of sleeping on our new (super) firm mattress. Derrick finally caved this week & bought a mattress topper & I think it’s definitely done the trick of making it much better! I think we’re both finally adjusting to it & even though I miss the “falling-into-a-soft-plush-mattress” feeling – I don’t mind the firm mattress too much at all. The mattress topper Derrick bought simply took the edge off the “sleeping-on-the-floor” feeling & has definitely made a huge difference. Derrick’s back & hip pain has slowly been getting better – so hopefully the new mattress is doing it’s job!
- I’ve had string-lights to hang out over our patio for about 2 years now & this week we finally got them hung up! It looks SO amazing – I love it! They’re solar powered lights, so we’re still kind of holding our breath & crossing our fingers that they’ll work – stay tuned!
- The BIG news for the week: Derrick & I went & got haircuts this week! Not just little “trims” either – pretty substantial hair-CHOPS. I’ve been wanting to do something different with my hair for several months now (just tired of the same-old-same-old) & Derrick’s hair was completely out of control. Thankfully, we have an amazing hair-stylist who we love & she hooked us up this week! In total, I had about 12-13 inches cut off of my hair – it went from being super-duper long to now being about an inch or two up off my shoulders.
The kids weren’t with us when we went – we knew we would be a little while, so we let them play at Grandma’s house. Braelynn immediately stated that she did not like my hair, and when I asked why, she said, “Because it’s too curly.” She later asked if Ms. Debbie had put bricks in my hair (not entirely sure what that means?) Leander just stared & smiled & sweetly gave me a big hug. - We’ve got guests this weekend! Paul & Naomi (and their kiddos) have been visiting with us since Thursday evening! We haven’t seen them since Christmas (YIKES) so it’s been wonderful to visit & catch up & talk & just be together.
- Next week holds some SUPER exciting things!! I’m SO excited & cannot wait to share all the fun that we have planned!
