D&K adventures: Church softball season officially starts today! What was originally supposed to be a pretty crappy day actually turned out pretty nice [bummer for the photo session I moved due to the “pending” thunderstorms – grrrr weathermen!]. I heard Derrick & the team had a pretty fun afternoon – I on the other hand was working hard to get caught up on editing and housework and laundry – okay it really sounds much worse than it actually is! I was planning on going to the games, but changed my mind at the last minute and decided to stay home & be productive.
Abby’s antics: It’s really quite humorous how well Abby knows our Monday-Friday routine [or maybe we’re just that boringly predictable]. Derrick was getting ready for his softball game this morning & came out of the shower & into our bedroom & Abby instantly was army-crawling-it underneath our bed. Monday-Friday, when Derrick comes into our bedroom after taking a shower, the next step is to pull out the hairdryer [which Abby is terrified of]. So, as soon as he walked in this morning, she was right under the bed in preparation for his next move. Ahh, we’re just so exciting she can’t even handle it.
Radiating thankfulness: We celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary last week! It’s so weird to realize that we’ve been married for FOUR years – that seems like such a short but long time. We celebrated by going on a cruise a few weeks ago, but we that day we treated ourselves by going out to our favorite restaurant [Chilis! We’re such suckers for those warm chips & salsa!], a treasure hunt, and painting a canvas together. Now, before you think we’re all mushy & romantic – that painting was more of an experience/fun/no-rules kind of thing than super-duper-romantic! It was Derrick’s idea & it honestly was fun! It was fun to do something together that didn’t involve watching a movie [which is what we do most nights]. Just, don’t ask to see our painting, ever. It was a fun experiment but we aren’t Picaso by any means! We leave that skill up to my sisters.
