Highlight of the Week
This past Thursday night was Light Up Night in Downtown Irwin! It’s my absolute favorite way to kick off the holidays! And this year, it was unseasonably warm – temperatures were in the low 50’s! Because it was so warm, the crowd was even bigger than ever (they say on average, over 10,000 people crowd the streets of Downtown Irwin for Light Up Night!) so I’m sure that number was even higher than ever! People were parking up to a mile away (I can say that for a fact, because we live a mile away from Main Street and there were cars parked all the way up the hill & onto our street!) and the parade route was literally crammed full of people. It was so much fun though and Braelynn loved every moment of the parade – she was completely memorized the entire time. Yay Christmas season!
Yes, This Happened
- We lost Daniel Tiger. It actually didn’t end up quite as bad as I thought it might have – you see, Braelynn has a small stuffed Daniel Tiger (who she affectionately calls “Danny”) and she loves him. She carries him everywhere. He sleeps with her. She loves Danny. Well, on Wednesday, we “lost” him and didn’t have him for naptime. There were a few quiet tears and a few longing calls for “Danny”, but we survived. He somehow got left behind at Grandma’s house, which is just 5 minutes up the road, so all was well in the end. But, it was a little iffy for a while there.
- Abby’s photo this week comes courtesy of Braelynn – I moved our bedroom furniture around this week (we’ve lived here for over a year, it’s time for some moving and changing!) and we were playing around while moving dressers and the bed. Braelynn thought Abby needed some jewels, so she put this necklace on Abby’s head – she doesn’t look super thrilled, but she was a good sport & played along.
Feeling Blessed
Tonight we celebrate Thanksgiving with my family & kicks off a very exciting Thanksgiving week for us! I’m so excited for this coming week & all the fun things we will be traveling for – it is going to be awesome!
But it all starts tonight as we gather 14 people around my parent’s table (we’ve added one since last Thanksgiving – woohoo for Ellen & Jonathan!) to celebrate thankful hearts. The food is going to be amazing, the conversation enlightening, the family photo hilarious (last year when we took our family photo, Derrick split his pants!) – I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family. I love every single one of them and they are all simply incredible. And then next week, my gratitude overflows as we celebrate with Derrick’s amazing family! We are so blessed!
