Highlight of the Week
Last Sunday afternoon, we (the bridal party, our Mom, and I) hosted my sister Ellen’s Bridal Shower here in PA (she had a shower in NY Thanksgiving week) It was perfect! Everything came together exactly as I envisioned, I had TONS of help, and we had about 65 people come out to celebrate Ellen & Jonathan’s upcoming marriage! You can imagine, with 65 people, Ellen had a Mount Everest sized mountain of gifts and they got so many things they will need to move & settle into their new house (they are set to close this coming week!!) Beside a few bumps in the road at the beginning (we went over to set up and decorate on Saturday, only to find a birthday party happening at the church, and when we came back a few hours later, the church had been locked, so we couldn’t get in!) everything was really perfect! If you weren’t there in person, you’ll just have to come back on Monday when I post photos & more stories about the day!!
Yes, This Happened
- We went to Kennywood’s Holiday Lights last night! It’s something we’ve never done before & I’m sort of crossing my fingers that it becomes a new tradition – we had so much fun! It was freezing – literally! 27º and dropping all night! But we went prepared and didn’t freeze completely through. I was so surprised at how much there was to do! We were kind of thinking we’d go & be there for an hour, maybe an hour and a half – and we were actually there for 3 hours & easily could have spent longer if it wasn’t so freezing cold! There are a handful of rides open (if you go, definitely check out Noah’s Ark – it’s all decked out, inside & out, for Christmas!), food open all throughout the park (we got Potato Patch Fries and Johnny Rocket Burgers!), multiple shows happening (there was a magic show, a singing show, & a light show!), there’s the Polar Express 4-D theater, characters, carolors, and muscicians roaming the park, a petting zoo, and of course, literally millions of lights to walk through and enjoy! We had a BLAST!
- We took the annual Christmas party photo for my Aunt Sheila’s Bible Study this week! Those ladies are so so sweet & we really enjoyed visiting with them! For the whole story, pop over to my Instagram!
Feeling Blessed
This week was the first week we’ve had where we didn’t have a pressing task or place to be every single day! It felt like we were on vacation! It was so wonderful to get up every morning, be lazy around the house, stay in our PJs, snuggle on the couch, leisurely eat breakfast, and do whatever we wanted! I still did a little work while Braelynn took her naps, but I didn’t push myself to work outside of her nap time. I’m so thankful to have this little business that allows me weeks (even though they’re few & far between) like this!
[…] that back! I wanted to state how cold it was last year compared to this year, so I looked up the Abby’s Saturday from last year at this time & I said that the starting temp was around 27º. Last night the starting temp was only 29º! […]
[…] cold & laughing that we should have put a few more layers on. But afterward, in looking back at last year’s Abby’s Saturday post, the temperature from last year to this year was a whopping 1 degree different!! BRR, no wonder we […]
