Highlight of the Week
This week was vacation week! We’ve spent the past 7 days at my family’s lake house in Deep Creek Lake in Maryland and we literally could not have asked for a more beautiful week! Glorious blue skies & sunshine have been the rule and long lazy days spent on the boat, on the lakeshore, around the fire, and around the table sum our week up! I plan on posting a full Weekend Wrap-Up: Labor Day Edition come Tuesday – so you can look for that for more details of our time away!
Yes, This Happened
- We drove 8 hours to get to and from Kings Dominion in Virginia on Tuesday! We met up with one of Derrick’s old college friends (who we’ve hung out with before: Becky is a gem – I love her!!) Derrick rode his 150th roller coaster that day! Yes, you read that right: ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTIETH. That’s a lot of roller coasters!! I guess you could say he’s a little obsessed – follow along with his passion on his Instagram & his YouTube channel!
- We drove 45 minutes into West Virginia on Wednesday to go to literally the most amazing Italian restaurant on the planet. You probably think I’m kidding, but I swear to you – I’m not! If you are ever anywhere near Keyser, WV, you simply must stop at Castiglia’s! Only one suggestion: call first! This family owned restaurant shuts down for a few weeks out of the year so they can take the whole family back to Italy for vacation. I’m sure you can figure out where this is going – we failed to call first, drove down there, only to find out that they are closed & all in Italy right now. Biggest let-down of my life.
Feeling Blessed
I literally have the most amazing family. So many families do not have the dynamic/love/patience with each other to spend a week (plus) in a cabin with only one bathroom and come out on the other end alive, let alone still talking to each other. Call it what you want, but my family is simply the best & I love them.
