Highlight of the Week
We went and saw Beauty & the Beast this morning. Going in, I was all over the place with my expectations & emotions – the original Beauty & the Beast is one of my favorite classic Disney movies. In fact, Derrick & I’s first dance at our wedding was to an instrumental version of “Tale as Old as Time” (which, I know, isn’t the actual title). The trailers got me pretty hyped, but having been let down by big movies before, I went in cautious.
I am absolutely thrilled by this new version!! WOW. The sets & costumes & scenery are breathtaking. The story has been filled in & plot holes are fixed. The characters are beautiful & fulfilling. The music is taken to a whole new level – I mean, Alan Menken is a musical genius & his original movie score is purely iconic – but what he’s done with this version is incredible. I can’t stop humming “Evermore” & I can’t get the story out of my head! I could totally go back & watch it again – I cannot wait until it comes out so I can watch it at home!!
Yes, This Happened
- Potting Training Update: Braelynn has been a potty training champ this week! Pooping continues to be a challenge, but we’re getting there & making strides in the right direction. She’s definitely “got it” and is super good about holding it & going on the potty (I think we only had 2 accidents the whole week).
- Speaking of potty training, we’ve made several trips “out” in public in panties! Whew, talk about a scary adventure! She’s done super amazing every time though! The craziest though was that we went out to lunch with my Grandma on Wednesday & Braelynn asked to go potty THREE times (well, 3 was the number of times we actually went to the bathroom, she asked a few extra times that we kind of diffused)
- Daylight Savings Time hit this week & it’s been awful. I was hoping (crossing my fingers & wishing on a star) that it would mean that Braelynn would sleep in. Since we changed the clocks forward, I was hoping she would sleep until her “usual time” (6:30am) which would actually be 7:30am! But, no. In fact, she went the other way. We woke up between 5 & 5:30am almost every single morning. YUCK. Hopefully we can get back to 6:30am this week!
- I did an engagement session with a cute couple this past Monday – the guy is someone I literally grew up with but haven’t seen in almost 10 years! We found & visited a really amazing Pittsburgh location & I cannot wait to blog the highlights – coming Tuesday!
Feeling Blessed
Whew, so much happened this week! But, about 10 days ago we pulled the trigger on airplane tickets for a trip that we’ve been dreaming of taking for years. Thanks to a friend’s advice (and a little research), we were able to get tickets for a crazy low price and I’m still in shock at how little we’re paying for this trip! We’re still talking about it in “wow – is this real” fashion – we’re all pretty pumped!
