Highlight of the Week
It’s been potty training week! If you follow me on Instagram, you already know that & if you keep up with my little InstaStories, you already know how our week has gone! (Don’t follow me? Let’s be friends!)
Braelynn has basically been telling us to potty train her over the last few weeks. About 3 months ago, I brought the little potty down from the attic & put it in our bathroom. Over the last few months, she’s sat on it and put her babies on it and every once in a while, actually gone potty on it (mostly for Daddy). So, this week, I decided to go for it. I’m not sure if you can really title what we did as the “3 day method” unless you define the “3 day method” as putting the toddler in panties & letting them have accidents. The first 2 days were pretty rough, lots of messes, and lots of laundry, but by day 3 she truly seemed to be catching on! Day 4 brought only 1 (hilarious) accident, and Day 5 was accident free! (if you’re curious the story on the “hilarious accident”, send me a message & I’ll gladly tell you! I’m just afraid it might gross some people out, so that’s why I’m not writing it here) It still doesn’t quite seem possible, but I think I have a (mostly) potty trained toddler!
We definitely have a few things to continue working on: pooping on the potty seems to freak her out a bit, so we have that hurdle to jump. Also, I’m afraid she’s figuring out all too quickly that saying “I need to go potty” is an excuse to get out of pretty much anything (dinner, naptime, etc.) so there’s that. Any advice on either of those topics is gladly welcome!!
She is obsessed with her cute character panties though, so that’s been really fun! It’s definitely super cute to wake up each morning & hear her ask to “go on the potty” & put on her “pretty panties”!
Yes, This Happened
- We had to run to Kohl’s this week and as we were leaving, I was carrying Braelynn out to the car, and she was playing with the large buttons on my coat. As we got to the car, I opened the door and moved to put her in her seat when she started yelling, “No! No! No!” “What’s wrong?” I asked. “I’m pushing your buttons!” she responded. She could definitely say that again!
- It’s Daylight Savings Time this weekend? Who’s idea was that? I’m definitely not looking forward to this transition!!
Feeling Blessed
My calendar is really starting to fill up. I have something going on almost every single day next week and have things scheduled for the following week too – I can just feel it coming! The snowball effect is going to take place super soon & before I know it, it’ll be mid-summer and busy wedding season! So, I think I’m going to take some time to be intentional & enjoy today – relish the quiet & maybe take a nap!
